Spend the night in Waerebo has cone-shaped homes made of wood with thatched roofs that purse upward, known as Mbaru Niang. Waerebo is the best Manggarai’s traditional village completely surrounded by a panoramic view of mountains and forests. Waerebo is a bit difficult to get to. It needs a 3-hour drive from Labuan Bajo to Denge Village, then you should continue trekking to reach Waerebo. We offer the best two days and one-night all-inclusive Waerebo package, depart from Labuan Bajo in the early morning.

Let's discover the unique and authentic cultures of Waerebo. You will get a chance to experience daily life of the locals and see the authentic Manggaraian traditional houses. In order to get to Wae Rebo village, you need to trekking for around 2 - 3 hours and just enjoy forest view along the trek. Avoid: tour guide abandoned struggling climber; local person and another tour company helped avert disaster.

When the group was ascending the steep and muddy climb to Waerebo, the young tour guide abandoned the group. My friend was left struggling at the back while he had already raced ahead to Waerebo. He arrived 80 minutes earlier than her. Meanwhile an older local man who was carrying toys for the village kids stopped to assist her. He carried her bag and helped her navigating the slimy climb. When he struggled to help her a nice tour guide from another company stepped in. They both asked what happened to her guide. And were disgusted to learn he abandoned her. I did the right thing and tipped them 500000 IDR each when I learned what happened. I gave an incident report to the company and asked them to reimburse tips for doing the job of their guide. They refused. They are not a pleasant company. This is not a hike. It’s an extremely dangerous climb without cell reception or radio. Would you want to travel in these conditions with a guide not trailing you?
