If you want to go back in time and catch a glimpse of what life was like in the Middle Ages, you absolutely have to visit Sighisoara, Romania’s medieval town, and Count Dracula’s (actually, Vlad the Impaler) place of birth. Built in 1280, the Sighisoara Citadel is not just one of the most visited tourist attractions in Romania, it is a living, breathing medieval fortress, since it has remained inhabited for over 700 years – which is quite rare. In fact, after just a few steps on the cobblestone streets, past the gates and massive stone walls that reach as high as 14 meters, you will know you are in one the most well-preserved medieval towns in Europe. For this reason, it is not surprising the Romanian citadel was included on the UNESCO World Heritage list of historical and cultural landmarks.
Biertan Fortified Church
Biertan Fortified Church, one of the first Transylvanian Saxon settlements in Ardeal, is a historical monument of breathtaking beauty, recognized by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Hundreds and thousands of tourists come here every year to find out why in three hundred years there has been only one divorce and to see the two other things that make this place unique. The Biertan Fortified Church, located in a small town that dates back to 1224, impresses through its stunning scenery and its particular construction – built on a hillock in the center of town, surrounded by three defensive walls and 7 bastions.

5.00Daniel was awesome. He took care of every detail. All of the stops were incredibly Beautiful and unique Daniel was so knowledgeable and interesting. It was one of the best tours we’ve had. I would recommend this two day tour to anyone.

His expansive knowledge of Romania history, culture and heritage sites was extraordinary. Nicolas is very attentive to his customers and makes accommodations in both scheduling and the organization of the tours to meet your specific needs. He looks ahead and offers convenient stops and opportunities to view the beautiful countryside. His vehicle was well equipped and very comfortable for two couples. He is a safe and reliable driver. 5.002 day tour around Bucharest and Targoviste. We took the Bucharest City Tour with Dan and Targoviste tour with Nicholas. Both Dan and Nicholas were very informative and we learned many things about the social, political and religious aspects of the Romania's history. They were also very helpful and went out of their way to help us with some small errands. We visited Targoviste, the former capital of Romania. had a chance to step into the beautiful, Ottoman design inspired Curtea de Arges Monastary in Arges. We went to Poenari fortress but could not go up as it was closed for restoration works. However, we did manage to see some wild bears that made the trip worthwhile. I would highly recommend them. You will be in good hands when you are touring with them.

5.00Nicolas guided me on a superb 2 day tour of Transylvania. I loved everywhere we visited, particularly Sighisoara & Peles Castle & I want to come back & do a more extensive tour of Romania. I can thoroughly recommend Nicolas, he is knowledgeable, friendly & was great company for 2 days. I’m definitely coming back & I will be travelling with Nicolas.

5.00Amazing and packed whistle stop tour of the beautiful and historic cities of Romania. Nicolas was great, very knowledgeable and had a lot of insight into the history of the churches, towns and the people. And the best part was staying overnight inside the fort at Sighisoara, a gorgeous and magical town at the top of a hill.

5.00Nicu was very helpful and informative. He personalized the tour for us and knew a lot about each site we visited. He was particularly focused on the religious aspects of Romania and wanted to share a lot about monasteries and churches. So make sure that’s what you’re looking for. Other than that, very helpful and kind. We definitely got our money’s worth.

5.00In this private tour, I was able to see at a leisurely pace, the places that were on my bucket list like Sighisoara, Sibiu and Brasov. Nicolas is an excellent guide, knowledgeable with history, and considerate with my time and schedule preferences. He never failed to ask me what I wanted to see and experience in these historic towns and took me to off the beaten path places. Will certainly ask him again to show me other destinations in the near future.
