From the late 18th century until the mid-20th century, the Pest side could boost with one of the most flourishing Jewish communities in the region. We will trace what remains of it and have a glimpse of its history through the monuments of the district, also commemorating the tragedy that almost put an end to it. We will see as well how the community lives nowadays.
One of my main fields of research is the Jewish heritage and monuments of East-Central Europe. I have been to synagogues and Jewish cemeteries all around the region: in Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, so I see and present the Hungarian Jewish heritage in a broader context with thorough understanding of the subject.

Daniel received us on time as agreed. It was a very nice and above all interesting walk through the Jewish Quarter, visiting the synagogue . Daniel does his job as a guide very well, he is well read and answered all our questions. We can highly recommend it if you are interested in Jewish cultural heritage and history. Say thank you Benjamin & Beate Brest from Curacao

I was the only one on this tour so I had the opportunity to ask many questions. Unfortunately the synagogues were closed for a holiday so we couldn’t go in but the guide had photos of the interiors. My goal was to see parts of the city that I would not have seen on my own and that goal was accomplished. I learned quite a bit about Jewish history in Budapest.
