Enjoy two day trips for one. This is a perfect tour for people who love adventure and out door activities. The journey is full of nature, wildlife and stunning scenic view. We will cross over a large part of the avenue the volcanoes, towns or villages. On the way, there are corn, potato and barley fields located at the bottom of the rugged hills. Indigenous communities who are located beside of the roads show their gastronomy, culture and ways of living and working.

Cotopaxi National Park
Adventure starts in the Quito city that is located at 2890m or 9000 ft above sea level. The Cotopaxi National Park is located 77km on the south of Quito. When you arrive at the main entrance of the National Park is a good moment to taste an energy drink known as Coca Tea. This andean beverage was drunk by Incas to mitigate certain discomforts caused by effects of the altitude. Afterwards, the vehicle will take us to the lower area of the Park which altitude is 3900m or 12795ft above seal level. On this altitude is located the Limpiopungo Lagoon. The lacuna is a perfect place to start the hiking around in one hour or so. The wildlife that sorrounds the lagoon are wild horses or rabbits, andean gulls, coots, lapwings and sandpipers. Occasionally, the Andean Condor are planning the Park and could be spotted up in the distance. The tour continues driving to the next tourist attraction.
Laguna Quilotoa
After 2-hour drive from the Cotopaxi National Park is located the Quilotoa Lagoon. Quilotoa is a water-fill caldera that tops out at 3800m or 12467 ft above sea level. This lagoon shows up different colors, it depends if the day is sunny or cloudy. You can be as active or relaxed as you like in the lagoon. Before the Quilotoa town there are an indigenous gallery that is visited to admire and learn more about this entrepreneur and artisan people. A guinea pig can be seen while is circling in the roasting. Quilotoa offers a wide variety of activities from which to choose: hiking, kayaking, photography or just enjoy this peacefull place from the look-out point. The activity that travellers enjoy the most is to walk down at the bottom of the crater to look at the lagoon and return. if your physical condition is not the best one, the return could be assisted by a local man who rent mules to come back to the viewpoint. After a wonderfull day is time to come back to Quito.

5.00Our driver Eduardo was prompt to pick us up at our hotel and communication was very good with the company. He was a safe driver and had all sorts of great information and knowledge to share along the drive. We drove along the Avenue of the Volcanoes and the Pan American Highway which were all very scenic and good roads. Getting such stunning closeups of Cotopaxi was amazing. We hiked to the bottom of Quilotoa and then my husband hiked back up while I took a mule ride. Quilotoa is a stunning view at the top and equally so from the bottom. At the top are newly built shops and restaurants which were nice to visit as well before heading back to Quito. Our driver stopped as needed, we drove through several interesting small towns and he always told us all about the areas and people we were passing. It was an excellent, scenic, and informative way to spend a day of our short trip getting to see both popular and scenic sites. Highly recommended to spend the money. The day flew by with something new around every bend in the road.

5.00The tour operator, Galapagos My World, and tour guide Eduardo were great! Eduardo communicated with us before hand and even brought extra shoes and jacket for us since our luggage had been lost by the airline. It was a private tour with just the 2 of us and felt very COVID safe. We took off our masks only very briefly when outdoors for photos, but otherwise wore them all day. Eduardo was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot. He would also take pictures of us, which was nice. This trip is great to see both these sights, but it is a long day of driving. We got picked up at 6:30am and got back to hotel at 7:30pm. The hiking in Cotapaxi is very hard because of altitude and the ground is unstable volcanic rocks (our feet kept sliding down with every step) we did not go very high. At Quilatoa, the walk down is steep in many places and sandy (felt unstable and feet slipping). We did not go all the way down (because didn't want to have to go back up) but views were still amazing. We had great weather even though some fog and clouds sometimes blocked Cotapaxi. It was cold, though. In the 40s farenheit and windg in some spots. Bring jacket, hat, gloves. But wear layers because it seemed hotter down Quilatoa with no wind and direct sun. Highly recommend.
