Nice tour to Ethiopia’s north-east region of Afar. Mostly days consist of driving long distances in a Landcruiser (over mostly good unpaved roads) to reach remote spectacular spots, such as salt lakes, acid areas and volcanoes. The itinerary was well followed and sights were spectacular. Beware that there is zero infrastructure in the area - sleeping is under the stars on portable matresses, there is no water supply (apart from bottles in the car - no cooler though), electricity, toilets, etc. This gives a special pristine feeling to the experience, but it is worth mentioning as it was not that clear to me prior to realizing on spot. Explanations on the various spots are provided through guides, while drivers stick to their job of driving, which they perform in a safe manner throughout. Meals are served in camps and restaurants, with rather limited choice, as understandable given the remoteness of the area.

It was a packed itinerary with sites and places visited that were unique. The guide and driver were very knowledgeable and accommodating. They took us through scenic roads passing interesting villages and hikes to the volcano. Overall it was a great experience

This tour was such a great experience. Well organized, friendly staff and so much to see! The night hike to the volcano was amazing, although it was hard to see all the lava because of the fog. But sleeping right next to a volcano under the open sky was amazing. The Danakil Depression was just breathtaking! If you are into nature and landscapes you should do the Tour. The guides shared a lot of information about those places, and gave us a taste of living in the outback, far away from the big cities of Ethiopia and the warm hearted hospitality of the locals. Our chef, who was responsible for our meals, was excellent! On the last evening he prepared a little buffet of original ethiopian food...and it was extraordinary!!! Thank you guys for this amazing trip!!!
