For a few evenings after the full moon each month, the waters of Caicos Banks play host to this natural phenomenon, when thousands of glow worms emit green flashes of light in the shallow sea just after sunset in Turks and Caicos. Prepare for a magnificent evening on a unique sunset cruise in Providenciales. The natural spectacle of this marine mating ritual—when thousands of glow worms (odontosyllis enopla) illuminate the sea during their spawning cycle—never ceases to amaze and delight people of all ages. This species of marine worm, known more commonly as a glow worm, inhabits the shallow waters around a few secluded cays. The show begins shortly after sunset, when female glow worms release their eggs, which float to the surface and give off pulses of pale green light. The males also glow with this bioluminescence as they dart among the egg clusters to fertilize them. For approximately 15 to 20 minutes, you’ll see the surface of the water come alive with tiny bursts of light as a new generation is spawned! Enjoy complimentary rum punch, local beers, wine, soft drinks and bottled water accompanied by a selection of local appetisers. The timing of this glow worm mating ritual is controlled by natural forces and tied to the lunar cycle so this tour is only available for three days each month. The boat used for this tour is usually our Power Catamaran but occasionally our Sail Catamaran is used.

5.00This was so much fun from the word go! Ross, Trey and Angelo made this worthwhile. They interacted with everyone just enough to make you feel like friends. The catamaran was clean and comfortable and the rum flowed freely! Luckily we did get to see the glow worms but even if we didn’t just taking in the stars was pure magic. We felt that for the cost of the trip it was well worth it and would recommend it to anyone!

5.00This was such a great experience. Despite not seeing too many glow worms (we were able to catch a few!), the crew showed us a fun time. And we got great sunset photos too! Definitely do it if you have the chance! Shout out to Angelo for captaining the boat and Cliff for making sure my drinks were never empty!

Glow worm tour had a booze cruise atmosphere, not suitable for small children

2.00We booked the Glow Worm Cruise with our 1-year-old expecting a relaxed, family-friendly eco tour with snacks and refreshments. Children under 3 are free, which suggested that this cruise was suitable for toddlers. Right away upon boarding, it was clear this wasn’t the case. Alcohol was repeatedly and enthusiastically plugged (and served) from practically the moment we were seated. The crew loudly hyped up the passengers to a “wooooo!” party atmosphere. Over by the bar, a staff member gave an impromptu twerking lesson. Their vibe was much more “booze cruise” than nature tour. More concerning were the safety issues for young children: • Children’s life jackets were not mentioned during the briefing, and infant life jackets were not distributed during boarding. Even if they had children’s life jackets in the locker, it was not at all clear they would fit a 1 year old—and certainly they did her no good stashed away in a locker. • There was an open break in the railing directly adjacent to the seating area, leading directly to the swim platform, with no gate. • All seating was on an open deck, with no enclosed area to retreat to away from the railing hazard and potentially rowdy passengers. • The safety briefing was delivered largely as jokes (“If you see me grab a life vest and jump overboard, you know what to do! Haha!”) rather than clear instructions. In light of all this, we chose to leave the boat before it left the dock. When we did, a crew member on the dock insisted that my wife hand him our daughter over the water rather than carrying her off. When she complied, he lost his balance and stumbled while holding our daughter, until another crew member caught him. That confirmed to us that we had made the right decision. After we raised our concerns by email, the company did issue a full refund, which we appreciated. But parents of toddlers should be aware that this tour is not set up in a way that prioritizes the safety of small children.
Thousands of Glow Worms?? How About Dozens...

4.00Our Feb. 5, 2026 excursion was postponed by a day to the 6th thanks to weather. I think that additional day likely caused us to miss the majority of the spectacle. We literally saw only the odd worm here and there, perhaps a few dozen in total on our side of the boat. Very underwhelming and disappointing. BUT...we did have a fabulous sunset, the crew were great, the rum punch was great, and we had a rockin' good party going on thanks to a birthday being celebrated on board! We had a generous helping of deep fried seafood served as well. All in all, an enjoyable evening notwithstanding the absence of large numbers of glow worms.

3.00Our tour was five days after the full moon. We were told 4 to 6 days after the full moon would be best. However, there were no glow worms. We heard from someone else afterwards that it is best to do a couple of days after the full moon only.

5.00The crew was awesome. They were fun and insightful. Seeing the sunset, the stars, and the glow worms were all amazing. The glory of the Lord Almighty is very evident in the things He has made. I highly recommend this tour.
