On this food tour we visit not one but two of Manchester's most vibrant areas. You will hear the fascinating history of Manchester and it's people.
From the golden age of the Industrial revolution to the ultra cool and trendy city of today. On the tour we'll visit some of the city's most famous eating places and also some of our secret spots. Each place we visit has a special dish that tells a story of Manchester. We'll even enjoy a paired glass of wine at one stop and a unique Manchester tipple along the route. All included, no hidden extras.
You'll get to meet some of our chefs, bakers and producers. Our mission is to showcase our food heroes and introduce you to a side of Manchester you may never have seen or heard of before.
For every person who does this tour we donate a meal to Eat Well Manchester. A charity helping those struggling with food poverty in our city.

Ancoats became the world's first industrial suburb at the end of the 18th century. It was the beating heart of the British empire's Industrial revolution. Now the area has been voted one of the top places to live in the world. Old mills have been restored and converted into flashy apartments. The area is full of bars, restaurants, deli's and producers. Making it the perfect place for a food tour. During our walk around Ancoats and the Northern Quarter we'll share stories about the area's incredible history. From the criminals who ruled the streets to the weird and wonderful events that have shaped the city. We'll be visiting 6 locally run, independent food vendors during the tour, enjoying amazing flavours and tastes representing the communities and stories of Manchester. From music to football, industry to activism. The story of Manchester has it all. We'll share these tales as we take you through the backstreets of our city. Visiting hidden gems and places that locals have loved for years. Fascinating history, amusing anecdotes and amazing food all star on our 3.5 hour food tour.

4.00Steven was an excellent host, meeting place was easy to find. We were shown the northern quarter and some of the Manchester history. We started with local bakery, moved to an artisan deli, a taste of Salford rum and a bit of "this and that" ( I will let you discover this Manchester gem) and finally pudding. All the time we found new facts about the city you just don't know about. Well done Steve, great way to spend a few hours.

5.00We had the best tour with Steve. He was very knowledgeable about Manchester's history. The food was amazing, great portion sizes, we were so full by the end of the tour. The weather wasn't the best and it rained heavily on and off all day but Steve was so proactive and changed the route so we could warm up inside. We would recommend this tour as Steve was so personable and the food was amazing!

5.00This was a very genuine and great way of experiencing Manchester. Our guide, Steve, was very enthusiastic and since it was only me, my friend and Steve, we could ask plenty of questions and learn a lot of the history of the city. Very very nice to walk for a bit, hear about different historic periods of the city and to drink/eat something before continuing. I would strongly recommend the tour for people visiting Manchester.

5.00Wonderful food & walking tour. Don’t eat breakfast….save your appetite for all of the fantastic food on this tour. Great history of Manchester & incredible places to eat that you wouldn’t find on your own. Guide Richard very knowledgeable and friendly. Excellent introduction to Manchester

5.00Great experience! Our guide, Emmeline, was fantastic and very personable. Every place we went to was locally owned and the food was a good representation of all the different cultures in Manchester.

5.00We had a great food and drink tour with LaLa. She was very knowledgeable and very friendly and welcoming. We were so lucky that there were only 2 of us on the tour. La la took us to some lovely places, for example a deli, Indian place, cheese and wine, and we had a LOT of food!! So come Hungry for this tour. It was also great that small independent establishments are supported by Manchester bites. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Not cheap to do but very interesting and we learned a lot about 2 new areas of Manchester for us. Thank you, La La!
