Despite being a beginner-friendly course, this activity leads you to the absolutely stunning scenery at the end. During winter, you can see frozen waterfalls from above, and if you shift your gaze toward the sea, you will be met with the vast and majestic Sea of Okhotsk. From February to March, you will also get the chance to see the sea covered with drift ice. If you are lucky, you could even encounter wild animals like deer along the way.

Shiretoko's famous Furepe Fall turns into blue icicles in winter, and the spray from the falls, blown by the north wind, creates mysterious shapes. The silvery white Shiretoko mountain range rises behind Furepe Fall, and during the drift ice season, a magnificent drift ice field spreads out below.

This was the highlight of my trip! Guide Ikkun was phenomenal - very kind and knowledgeable, and very invested in making sure everyone had an excellent time. Breathtaking views, and I learned a lot about the surrounding nature and wildlife. Highly recommended!

The tour was great. Our guide Kohei-san was professional and caring. He knew the landscape and the wildlife there very well. Throughout the trip he kept spotting eagles and deers in the forrest, explaining the footprints of different mammals, while paying attention to everyone in the tour. We will certainly come back and join other Picchio tours.

A fantastic interpretive guiding tour through the National park to the unique Furepe frozen waterfall. Our guides Yuusuke and Keigo ensured we were appropriately dressed for the cold weather before heading out on the snow shoe walk and instructions in using the shoes were clear. Yuusuke was able to point out animal footprints in the snow and identified fox, sable, deer and mouse tracks. He also pointed out woodpecker holes in the trees and a couple of bird species. During the walk we encountered a large group of deer and there was plenty of time to take photos and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Highly recommend this tour.

An amazing experience! Breathtaking scene of deer grazing at the foot of snow mountains, and the frozen waterfalls formed by underground water were simply stunning! The guide was patient and very friendly, especially with the kids in our group. Highly recommend!
