Hey there! How about going on a fun-filled 3.5-hour cultural tour in the beautiful backcountry of the Lower Monument Valley Tribal Park? It's an amazing way to experience the local culture and enjoy the breathtaking scenery. When you join our tour, we make sure to provide you with an immersive experience of the Navajo culture. Our guides will take you to a local Hogan Demonstration where you can witness their way of life and understand their beliefs. We also encourage our guides to share their stories with you and entertain you with traditional music. We hope you'll leave with a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Navajo culture.

• All tours leave from the FRONT of The View Hotel building. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time for loading. Our guide will be waiting for you in front of the hotel at the LOADING AREA, approximately 50 yards west of the entrance. We depart strictly on the hour, so please be punctual. Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park
The Navajo culture has thrived on the land between the Four Scared Mountains, and those teachings have been inherited through generations of verbal and lesson teaching methods. Some of these teachings are shared with you during the Cultural Tour by your Navajo guide. The Cultural, 3.5 hour tour makes a first stop at the famous John Ford’s Point where many of John Wayne’s western cinematic movies were filmed. Next, your guide will drive to The Backcountry of the park and escort you to the “Sun’s Eye Arch" and Hogan Demonstration. At “Sun’s Eye Arch” you will be standing at a specific degree to look up into the rock arch and see why it is named Sun’s Eye. At the same location you will also see Petroglyphs and hear your guide’s stories. Next, you will travel to the “Big Hogan.” The Big Hogan is a great place to take family pictures and lie against the rocks and feel its warmth. Your guide will provide stories and suggest great photo shots. The last stop in the Backcountry is the “Ear of the Wind.” This is the largest arch in the park, and your guide will escort you to a photogenic spot where you can take photographs. Next, you will be guided to the Totem Pole and Yei Bi Cheii Monuments where you will be able to take photographs and hear the cultural stories behind each monument. The last stop is at the North Window where you will have a chance to take pictures of the Mittens and Butte at a different angle. Your tour guide will then slowly and safely transport you back to your departure point. Unfortunately, we cannot give much information about our guides’ stories because each guide has very uniquely different stories to tell. Our guides’ stories come from personal experience, lore, legends and the Navajo culture.

5.00A great tour with access to areas the general public do not see. Our driver/tour guide was Yvonne who was brilliant - articulate, personable, knowledgeable and very friendly. We learnt a lot about the Navajo and saw some fascinating scenery and formations as well as a traditional Navajo home. My wife and i thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

5.00I am so happy I decided to take the 3.5 hour cultural tour. If you are a solo traveler, just email or call to see if there is an opening -- I got a prompt response. Yvonne was helpful from the second I spoke to her and I couldn't have asked for a more knowledgeable, attentive, or capable guide. I felt like the tour covered so many locations and I didn't feel rushed once, which made this tour stand out from others I have taken recently. The content was incredibly interesting and covered a wide variety of topics. I would recommend this tour to everyone and anyone. Thank you, Yvonne, for creating a lifelong happy memory.

5.00This tour should not be missed! Our tour guide, Yvonne was awesome! She's personable, knowledgeable and obviously loves what she does. She gave us a very cultural perspective of Monument valley and of the people who live here. She alsi took us to the perfect photo spots and even coached us on hiw to achieve the very best photos. Also, she played flute for us in a magical place. I highly recommend this tour!

5.00Jameson was an amazing tour guide, pinch hitting for a coworker at the last minute. My husband and I were the only guests on this 3.5 hour tour. What you see and experience here is not to be missed! A visit to an authentic hogan, complete with informative talk, venturing outside the boundaries where you must go with a Navajo guide. Jameson and another guide shared their talents of flute and drum inside Eagle arch. Many opportunities to stop and marvel, take photos and learn many interesting things about the monument. We never felt rushed, but were encouraged to be in these beautiful spaces until we were rat to move on. I can’t say enough about this wonderful tour!

5.00We had the best time! Lee was knowledgeable and so much fun! We loved that we got to go on backroads where the general public couldn't go and see living history in the hogan! Definitely stop and buy some Indian fry bread!! You are welcome!!

5.00I had two wonderful tours: 1 Cultural tour into the Backcountry with John and the other tour I went to Mistery Valley with Elvis. John and Elvis were two wonderful tour guides and I learned a lot about the history of Monument Valley and the surroundings. Impressive scenery, bumpy streets and exciting stories and talkings. Both played the flute in very magical places. I really want to thank you for this unique experience, I will always keep it in my heart: Thank you John for all the knowledge you shared and the help how to take awesome pics of Monument Valley.
