Potala Palace
Lhasa’s cardinal landmark is the Potela Palace, once the winter residence of the Dalai Lama. The palace is an architectural wonder even by modern standards, rising 13 stories from the Red Hill and contains over 1000 rooms. There are daily tours of three stories featuring golden stupas, prayer halls and chapels, but tickets are limited. Your guide will book tickets in advance but visiting times often change, so it’s good to be flexible with your time to be able to enjoy this marvel. Be sure to climb the spired peak of Chakpori Hill, 3725m high located next to the palace. It offers the best panorama view of the ancient city and Potala Palace.
Norbulingka (Precious Stone Garden)
Norbulingka Palace, meaning “Park of Treasure” used to be the summer palace of the Dalai Lama and was built around 1755. Norbulingka stands over 360,000 square meters and has over 375 rooms that are all filled with various precious flowers and plants, creating a deeply oxygenated, peaceful atmosphere.

Everything went as scheduled. The tour was expensive comparing to other offers, but we wanted to have everything taken care for the whole stay in Lhasa. I wish the tour could have included entrance fees and meals. Paying them extra made tis tour one of the most expensive offered through Viator. As with other tours we had in China, nobody cares to provide you bottled water as described in the details. My advice is to print the itinerary and share with the tour guide as they do not know exactly what you expect.
