This was a wonderful introduction to Bulgaria and the many different communities within the country. Some absolutely incredible fresco’s captured inside monasteries, some of which are off the beaten track. We also enjoyed its natural and environmental beauty and different regions. Our guide, Meto, shared his detailed knowledge of Bulgarian history and helped us appreciate its place in the crossroads of history between the Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman empires, as well as the role they played in various regional and global conflicts. We very much enjoyed our four days and it makes us want to come back to experience even more. On a personal note Meto was extremely engaging, flexible to our to our needs, and shared his wealth of knowledge with professionalism and humor. We highly recommend him as a guide.
