This four days program takes to Volcanoes NP for golden monkey tracking, this is one of the top adventures to do in Rwanda. The activity involves a relatively easy trek through the bamboo jungles in the lower zones of the Virunga Volcanoes to find and spend an hour with the striking Golden Monkeys. Afterwards we head to misty Bwindi, which is home to more than half the population of the remaining 720 Mountain Gorillas. Bwindi offers a unique birding opportunity, cultural experiences, and the elusive primates.

You will be met by our driver guide at the Kigali and We proceed with the guided tour to the fast-growing neighborhoods of Kigali that are changing the face of the city. There is opportunity to drive through the older commercial and residential areas with a major stop at Kigali genocide memorial site commemorating the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. stop for lunch then after drive to Musanze if time allows you will visit two twin Lakes Burera and Ruhondo. Their deep blue waters ringed by steep hills and tall waterfalls with the outlines of the nearby Virunga Volcanoes provide a spectacular backdrop overnight at.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Wake up for early breakfast and transfer to the park head offices in Kinigi by 7.00am. Join up with the other Golden Monkeys trekkers, meet the ranger guide for a few minutes talk about the activity and the park, and by 8.00am you transfer to the trail head just outside the park. Enjoy great views of the mountain scenery as you start your trek into the park to find the golden monkeys. The golden monkeys live near the edge of the park in the bamboo forests where the ground is relatively flat and easy to trek. Find the monkeys and follow them as they feed, notice how they skillfully pick the young bamboo leaves from the tip of the bamboo tree. They may also move out of the park into the potato fields and how they love the potatoes! After an amazing one hour with the golden monkeys you will return to the trail head drive back to the lodge for lunch and thereafter head to the border, after clearing we will proceed to Bwindi.

After an early morning breakfast, walk to the park headquarters for briefing on the do's and don’ts during gorilla tracking and thereafter you will proceed to the gorilla trail. Gorilla tracking normally lasts between 2 to 8 hours or even a day to encounter the gorillas. However, you will be allowed to stay in the presence of these awesome apes for at least an hour. It is advisable that you carry packed lunch, which will be provided, as one cannot determine how long it may take to encounter the mountain gorillas. Later transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, the drive will be through a beautiful part of the country often referred to as ‘the Switzerland of Africa’ because of its unique cool weather despite being near the Equator. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa [900 meters deep] and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzias free. Dinner and overnight included.

After breakfast, you will take a boat ride on this lake tour different islands, before we head to another border this time Katuna border to cross to Rwanda, upon reaching will do Kigali City tour, Checking different City landmarks and craft markets, thereafter be transferred to Kigali Airport to catch you’ departure flight back home.

5.00Frena Adventures provided me with a quote immediately and offered a discounted price when I added an additional person to my tour. Our driver picked us up as soon as our flight landed in Entebbe, being very accommodating of our 5am arrival time. The driver was skilled with the various road conditions, keeping us safe. We stopped at clean washrooms along the way, and had delicious buffet style lunch. The lodges selected for mid-range had gorgeous views and were clean. We were able to stay at three lodges during our experience, allowing us to see an additional lake and enjoy a beautiful boat ride. Each lodge took our breakfast and lunch orders in advance, being mindful of the timing of each excursion. When we reached Bwindi National Park for the gorillas, Frena Adventures ensured we had the option of a porter for the hike. For the chimpanzees, Frena Adventures briefed us on the flat terrain and walking requirements in advance. Frena Adventures was mindful of our flight departure time and took us to our requested shops for souvenirs during our journey. Moreover, Ronald was an excellent driver and guide, making our experience very pleasant! I absolutely recommend Frena Adventures for your Uganda ecotourist experience.

5.00In December 2024, I did a four-day tour with Frena Adventures, and everything was great. Everything went so well, largely thanks to Isa, my fantastic guide. In addition to being an excellent driver, he knows Uganda well and knows a lot about the wildlife in the areas we visited. He was always present, attentive, and communicative and considered my preferences. Our accommodations exceeded my expectations, and all the meals were delicious. The gorilla trekking and the chimpanzee were fantastic. Also, we had a lovely drive along the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Isa was very committed to finding as many animals as we could. My only complaint is not having had more time to spend at least a couple of nights in each of the accommodations I stayed in. Without a doubt, I would repeat this with Frena Adventures and especially with Isa.

Were greeted by our guide/driver Ronald who was professional, knowledgeable, friendly and really enhanced our trip We came away with a great life experience and will cherish the memories for years to come

5.00We booked a 3 day gorilla trekking tour online with Fred and had an incredible time! Ronnie picked us up from the airport and took us to different activities planned around our timings and interests, was really nice and a great driver. Everything went really smoothly with no surprises.This was my 12th country visited in Africa and probably the best experience I’ve had.

5.00We had an amazing experience, with the highlight meeting a mountain gorilla family in Bwindi national park. Our guide Ronal had a lot of knowledge about the history of Rwanda and Uganda - as well as wildlife. We had a 4WD Toyota and Ronald managed challenging driving conditions excellent. He was always on time and service-minded. The tour was also a way to experience rural life and we had nice stays at Hawks eye with a boat trip on Lake Bonyonyi. We also had a pleasant stay at a mountain lodge in Bwindi including visit to a local village and an impressive song and dance performance.

5.00The tour was incredible from start to finish. Really easy to organise with Fred and perfectly executed with Ronnie, our tour guide and driver. Information was clear each day and then everything went as planned each day so no surprises. The tour itself was once in a lifetime! Every activity in the beautiful countries of Uganda and Rwanda were breathtaking. Thank you Frena adventure for such a special trip!
