You can visit a small cave and catch some great views with good weather. Some ladders will help you over difficult passages, so be ready for a little adventure.

In winter time sometimes additional equipment (snow chains, snowshoes) is needed.
You have to be free from vertigo and safe over steep terrain (sure footedness)
Due to uneven surfaces, this tour is not possible for those with walking disabilities or using a wheelchair

The "rear wall" of the Hohe Wand is much quieter than its southern flank. Two romantic canyons are there the landscape-defining elements. At their visit, one almost feels forgotten. The romantic, Great Gorge forms the heart of this mountain hike. Over some of the relatively high ladders, you can overcome impressive rock formations and also a small former show cave can be visited. Compared to the rather crowded south side of the Hohe Wand, this hike is very quiet and almost deserted.

5.00Michael was awesome and this trip was one of my favorites of the entire vacation. Getting out of the city and hiking on a private tour was amazing. Michael was so knowledgeable and helpful, moving things off the path and making the route less slippery, or even pointing out slippery spots ahead, Michael went over and above. This was well worth the money and was the best experience. In researching for things to do on this trip I kept seeing hiking tour reviews with Michael and all of the good things you read in the other reviews are every bit true :)

5.00Had no idea that a hike like this was possible so close to Vienna. I will be back to this area and visit not only the Hohe Wand area but the surrounding mountain peaks as well. It was wonderful to get out of the city. Michael was a fantastic guide and really knows his stuff. It took us 4 1/2 hours to complete, which included a long stop for lunch. Good boots that will support your ankle and provide sufficient grip on slippery rocks and loose soil are recommended. I also took a hydration pack that also held my light lunch and another clothing layer.

5.00Michael was great with communication before the trip and throughout. This was a great private joke and we didn't see any other people so felt we had the wall to ourselves. We took the challenging route with a number of ladders and rungs so the day was varied and exciting as well as beautiful.

5.00Loved getting out of the city with an experienced guide. Wiener was knowledgeable and provided a lot of insights and education along the way. It was fantastic way to experience the Alps. The scenery was spectacular.

5.00This hike was the highlight of our whole trip to Austria. The climb up was unexpectedly beautiful and different and climb down was really fun. The whole hike was just a little bit extreme, but we are really inexperienced with mountain hiking, so maybe it is a normal trek for others. :D The guide was amazing and patient, showed us spots and caves along the hike and took pictures of us, so we have proof that we did it!

5.00We were guided on a fantastic hike outside of Vienna. The drive there was nice and our guide Michael gave information about the areas we drove through. The hike Michael took us on was fantastic and amazing to see the beautiful scenery and be out in nature. Our guide, Michael, was great and I would go on other tours with him in the future.

5.00On the hike with the subsequent car ride Michael showed a lot, I got to know an unusual amount. During the hike he carefully adjusted the pace to my fitness and explained a lot about technique. Initial fears of being overwhelmed have turned out to be unfounded. As a beginner, I never had to be ashamed to hike with a professional. He always made you feel good. It's become much clearer to me. Nature is in his blood. We also had interesting conversations. A very nice eventful day. Thank you.

5.00The tour with Michael is amazing! I travelled during winter and the the mountain is covered with snow. We reached the top in 3 hours and the view was breathtaking. Michael is also very informative to show you the best, we viewed a cave, climbed through some ladders! Worth going!
