  • Wonderful 5-day Winter Wonders of Scotland tour

We've just been on the 5-day Winter Wonders of Scotland tour from Edinburgh up to Oban, Isle of Skye & Inverness. We were so lucky to have Dusty as our driver and guide - he was friendly, funny, and full of fascinating stories. Despite some very wet weather, Dusty adapted the itinerary so we could still enjoy as many sights and experiences as possible. And the autumn colours & scenery was spectacular at this time of year (first week of November). Highly recommend booking with Highland Explorer - and if you’re lucky, you’ll get Dusty as your guide too!

I joined this 5-day guided tour through the Scottish Highlands, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Our driver-guide, Dusty, was knowledgeable, engaging, and a great storyteller. He brought the landscapes to life with fascinating tales and historical insights, all while making sure we were comfortable and safely transported from one breathtaking destination to the next. The tour itself was extremely well organized. I chose the Bed & Breakfast option, and while the accommodations weren’t luxurious, they were clean, comfortable, and perfectly adequate for one or two nights’ stay. Each B&B was conveniently located about a 10–15 minute walk from the town center, making it easy to explore on our own in the evenings. Visiting Scotland in early November turned out to be a real treat. It was like stepping into an autumn wonderland. The mix of golden yellows, deep reds, rich browns, and greens across the hills and glens was simply stunning. Even on cloudy/rainy days, the scenery had a magical quality that made every stop feel special. As a solo traveler, I truly appreciated the friendly and relaxed atmosphere that Dusty cultivated. The group of about 15 travelers was just the right size, big enough for variety, yet small enough to feel personal. I had many inspiring conversations, and I even made a friend along the way. Overall, this tour was the perfect blend of adventure, comfort, and connection. If you’re looking to experience the Highlands in a meaningful, stress-free way, I can highly recommend this tour.

This was by far the best group tour experience I’ve ever had. It has always been my dream to visit Scotland, specifically the Highlands, and this tour showed me every place I had ever wanted to visit. Dusty was hands down the BEST tour guide I have ever had the pleasure of touring with. His story telling abilities, paired with his MANY dad jokes, made the tour not just breathtaking, but educational as well. You can tell he truly loves to share his country and its history with his tours. The ratio of van time and exploring time was perfect and the accommodations were great. I have already told all of my family and friends about this company and hope to travel with them again.

I had the most incredible time on my tour of the Scottish Highlands and Isle of Skye! Our guide, Dusty, was absolutely fantastic - a true storyteller who brought Scotland’s history, myths, and legends to life. His stories added so much colour and magic to every stop along the way. The scenery was breathtaking throughout, from the dramatic mountains of Glencoe to the wild beauty of the Isle of Skye, which were my personal highlights. I was a bit nervous about travelling in Scotland in November, but it turned out to be perfect - we experienced all four seasons in one week, from sunshine to rain to those hauntingly beautiful mists. The autumn colours were stunning and gave the landscapes such warmth and depth. It was also such a great group of travellers - everyone got to know each other and share the adventure, which made the experience even more special. As a first time solo traveller, I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to Scotland. The trip was well organised, full of heart, and truly unforgettable. I left already dreaming of coming back!

I really enjoy the entire tour, guide Graeme. He told as many stories, folks related to our trip. Accommodation was nice, clean as well. The only think I didn't get it that other people get B&B ACCOMMODATION and I only got hostel facility (as it's wired other get option to booked B&B place with breakfast and you don't) if such facility option available. It was not mentioned the time I booked. Apart from that everything was awesome

Graeme was as charismatic as they come, sharing stories and regaling us with facts and tidbits about Scotland and Scottish culture. Safely navigating the cold and rain for us on our 5 day trip, he made sure we got to our destinations not only well informed, but also in one piece and on time. I don’t think my wife and I could have gotten as much out of this trip if we tried to do the drive ourselves. Graeme is smart, knowledgeable, and entertaining, which really helped us get the most of our time in Scotland.
