Letter to Valencia Steph and I had an amazing time in Peru! This country is amazing. I have always loved the mountains. The mountains of Peru are truly majestic and worthy of visitation on their merit alone. The true reason for this trip was Machu Picchu though. It always had been a dream to visit that special place, ever since I was a kid. This year Steph and I wanted to go someplace special to both celebrate our 8 years together and also our recent engagement. We decided on Peru! Now that we have been here with 6+ days of exploration, we can’t wait to come back! There really is sooooo much more to Peru than Machu Picchu. Oh, and the food is great too! As for the travel agency, we choose Valencia Travel based upon a very strong recommendation from a former coworker. Him and his wife travel all over, and they said their Peru trip was their best trip ever. Valencia made that trip happen. Therefore Steph and I went with Valencia based upon that glowing recommendation. We would concur with my coworker. If you want to come to Peru, contact Valencia Travel! They take care of everything, from picking you up and dropping you off at the airport, and everything inbetween. They are great with communication. Everything was very well planned out, there were no surprises. Everyone we have been in contact with (the sales people, the drivers, the transfer people, and especially the guides; have all been wonderful! Polite. Courteous. Very friendly. We had two different guides. Both exhibited the aforementioned traits plus they speak English well and are very knowledgeable and great at explaining all the many sites we visited as well as answering all our many questions. This truly has been a trip of a lifetime. I really hope we can return someday, and soon :)

Valencia Travel exceeded our expectations. Planning for our trip was done with zooms, emails, and phone calls. There were several online options that were offered and we felt very confident this would be an amazing company to work with. The arrangements were set over five months in advance and we were very pleased with Valencia’s attention to details and assistance for us. Transit hosts met us at transit to assist with transfers and they additionally provided any clarity or updates in our plans. Miguel assisted us with transfers for transit and greeted us as drivers were timely and very experienced. Miguel asked us to text/call with any questions and he was very kind. Guides were exceptional. Extremely knowledgeable about the archeological sights and explanations of possibilities of the historical past to known facts of the historical past. Guides were additionally kind and gentle about expectations prior to entering the sanctuary sights; I being a teacher, appreciated the quality and patience the guides provided. All accommodations and experiences were fabulously planned and the Valencia staff orchestrated every detail to assure a wonderful experience. Our first guide, Vladimir, took us through the City Tour. He did a wonderful job of explaining all the archaeological sights in very clear English. His details and answers to all our questions were patiently answered and we never felt rushed, even though we were able to see so much in one day. Our last guide, Carlos, spent four days guiding us through our experiences and archaeological sights and his knowledge, English articulation, support, and guidance was so impressive that we want to return to visit. He also was excellent with timing and patience. Thank You Valencia Travel, every detail was so well planned and thought out, we will recommend you to others!

Genrri Salazar & team of porters & chef did an amazing job. Their kindness, professionalism and attention to details truly helped make this trip possibly the most memorable trip of my life. The only suggestion I would recommend is that based on the work that Genrri & team did for us the recommended gratitudes recommended by Valencia Travel was substantially underestimated. I would highly recommend this trip & the people who worked with us to anyone wishing to experience the majestic beauty of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu & kindness of the local people.

Betting your whole experience in a foreign country with people you don’t know is never easy but our guide leader Corina Duran and driver Ronald! Ronald! Ronald! Made the experience way, way better. If they were Uber, they’re 5-stars. Beyond being knowledgeable (Corina has a doctorate degree), Dr. Duran lectured us, healed us and cared for us. Don’t get any tandem, request them

Valencia runs a first class operation from start to finish. Great staff, equipment, food and program. Our guide was exceptional and all the help from cooks to horsemen (and horsewomen!) were so hard working to meet our every need. One needs to be in pretty good shape to negotiate 60km of steep elevation gain and descent. We thought the 2 days acclimating in Cusco to be time well spent as we experienced no altitude sickness. Just tired and sore at each day's end of the trek! Machu Picchu was wonderful and we recommend the Waynapicchu extra ticket but only if you are up to a very steep stair climb (apx. 875' elev. gain and descent). Our hotel accommodations were very nice with great breakfast and prime locations. The Salkantay trail facilities are pretty primitive so be prepared for a back country experience. All in all it was a wonderful experience of a lifetime!
