The attention of visitors is drawn by a rich collection of insignia of emperor and churches, costumes, and weapons. The oldest exhibits are rock sculptures and inscriptions from the times of Queen Saba, found near Aksum and in today's Eritrea.
Ethnological Museum

Shiro Meda Market
Shiro Meda local market located near the US Embassy in Addis Ababa is one of the best local markets to shop handwoven cotton clothes mainly for women. It is also famous for buying small gift items like Tshirts, necklaces, earrings, etc At Shiro Meda, visitors can buy colorful handwoven locally made scarves, and dresses for women which are made from cotton and decorated with colorful embroidery. Here at Shiro Meda, bargaining for price is the order of the game.
Mercato Market
Prior to the current Mercato, there was an open marketplace in Addis Ababa near St. George Church at the site where the City Hall stands now, but it ended with the Italian occupation of the 1930s. The occupiers moved the market further west to the area around the premises of Fitawrari Habte Giyorgis Dinagde, which they named Merkato Dinagde. Thus, the present Addis Merkato was founded by the segregationist policies of the Italian occupational government. the Italians restricted the historic St. George Merkato to Europeans, renaming it Piazza, which featured European-style shops that displayed commodities through glass windows. The mostly Arab tradesmen who owned stores there eventually relocated a half-mile to the west. Over time, local shopkeepers displaced the Arab merchants and, since the 1960s, the Addis Merkato has had a mostly local flavor. The Mercato Dijino did not have any plan and gradually grew in width and breadth taking different categorical stocks called "terras".
St. George's Cathedral
St George's Cathedral is an Orthodox cathedral noted for its distinctive octagonal form and is located at the northern end of Churchill Road. Designed by Sebastiano Castagna and built by Italian prisoners of war defeated at Adwa in 1896, it was named after St. George, after the ark of the church was carried to the Battle of Adwa against the Italians, during which the Ethiopians secured victory. The Italian Fascist authorities set the building on fire during the war in 1937, yet the cathedral was later restored by the Emperor following the liberation in 1941. The Cathedral has a museum where it displays an Imperial throne and weaponry used in the wars against the Italians including curved swords and tridents and giant helmets made from the manes of lions.
Mount Entoto
It is a historical place where Emperor Menelik II resided and built his palace, when he came from Ankober and founded Addis Ababa. It is considered a sacred mountain and has many monasteries. Mount Entoto is also the location of a number of celebrated churches, including Saint Raguel and Saint Mary.[1] The mountain is densely covered by eucalyptus trees that were imported from Australia during the reign of Menelik II, and mostly planted during Emperor Haile Selassie's reign. Thus, it is sometimes referred to as the "lung of Addis Ababa". The forest on the mountain is an important source of firewood for the city. It was also a source of building material in earlier times. The Ethiopian Heritage Trust, a non-profit, non-governmental organization, is working actively to change part of the mountain to its old state, a natural park. Entoto Natural Park is the northeastern rim of Addis Abeba, on the southeastern slopes of Mt. Entoto, covering an area of 1,300 hectare

A big thank you to Glamour Tours and Travels for making my parents' trip an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, everything was well-organized, and my parents absolutely loved every part of the journey. The hotels were clean and comfortable, ensuring a pleasant stay throughout. Though there was a slight language barrier with the driver, it did not take away from the overall amazing experience. The entire trip was seamless, and I truly appreciate the constant support and efforts put in by the team. This trip was extra special as it was for my parents' 25th anniversary, and you made it so memorable for them! I will definitely recommend GlamourTours and Travels to my friends and family. Thank you once again! 🫶😊 A huge shoutout to Rodas for managing the trip so good, for constantly asking for feedback from my parents and he did his best to make the trip and a great success.

Happen to stumble on Glamour Omo Valley Tours and Mickey name through a Google search: Best Glamour Omo Valley tour. Here I was, guided through the alleys, the people, the life and everything that bahir dar, gondar and lalibela had within itself by gashaw-the first female guide from gondar itself. The experience of the tour was one of a kind. Though I was skeptical of going for the tour initially, my interest towards seeing and witnessing the ground realities led me there. I got an insight into so many aspects of the life of people, the harmony, the diversity and everything I could ask for! It’s an experience that everyone must have and it’s better to see it directly than reading about it. North ethiopia surprised me so much and meeting Melaku our guide who is so full of life and knowledge; Gondar and calls all of the shop owners and workers there his family was just an amazing feeling! Highly recommend it to everyone who wants to visit . There’s absolutely nothing to be skeptical about. You will certainly leave with a different perspective and a huge smile on your face!

Including Lake tana ,blue nile falls asimien mountains and rock hewn churches of lalibela The guide and driver were both excellent. Mickey was kind and caring and helped make sure I had a good time. Even teaching me the proper way to eat my Ethiopian meal,There were lots of extra bits that I wasn't expecting like trying different types of food, shiro was definitely needed after walking up lots of steps to the caves in the hot sun! These all made it an extra special day and one that wouldn't have been possible if I'd tried to do it on my own.

I can't say enough positive about Glamour Omo Valley Tours. I contacted numerous tour companies to plan this trip to Ethiopia with my 12 year old son. Mickey Glamour was from the first the most responsive to my request for a specialized itinerary. I was also looking for a totally trustworthy tour guide who could take my son around while I was working in Addis. Mickey provided this and more. His guides and driver were very knowledgeable and responsive to our requests - for example extending our stop in one place to watch wild life (baboons). Mickey was also very helpful when I had to cancel part of our tour due to my son getting ill; he got me some money back and provided everything I needed for my travel insurance. I will absolutely use Glamour Tours on my next trip to Ethiopia with my family.

Overall, we were very happy with our tour. Our driver, getachew, was perfect—he was very kind and attentive. He was extremely punctual, patient, and very careful, which was very important to me as I must admit I was quite stressed about the roads and ethics opus driving 😜. After spending four days in Ethiopia we were absolutely delighted with our 4 nights tour of Addis , Bahir dar, gondar simien mountains and lalibela organized by Glamour tours From the very beginning,Alex was extremely professional and highly responsive to all my requests. I wouldn’t hesitate to use his services again or to recommend them to my friends.

was a member of a 6 person group that spent 6 days in Ethiopia this summer. Glamour provided comfortable, sturdy and reliable transportation for each part of our journey. The drivers spoke English and happily answered any questions we had in route. Even in large market crowds, I always felt safe with the glamour guides and interpreters who advocated for us whenever needed. Business is conducted in a straight forward manner with honesty and professionalism. Moreover, the owner (Mickey) and his staff are friendly. Mickey, in particular, made me laugh; and by the end of the trip, I was very fond of him. Ethiopia is a fantastic destination, and I highly recommend Glamour omo valley Tours for its service, value, comfort and trustworthiness.
