Leave Nairobi in the morning and drive to Chogoria where there will be a lunch stop. After lunch, we take a short drive up to the Star point of the bamboo forest where the trekking commences through the thick bamboo forest for about 11 km to the Mt Kenya Bandas

The ascent of the mountain begins after breakfast and making the day’s requirements arrangements. This is an easy trek marked by lovely sceneries and landscapes to the Lake Ellis Campsite for the night stay at about 3600m. There is a lunch break by a crossing stream and views of the moorland and beautiful view of the Mugi, Inthanguni and Giant Billards.

The 3rd-day adventure begins after breakfast, with the first goal being to connect to the normal tourist trail on the Chogoria route at about 4100m. This connection trek is about 3 hours up through a mountain ridge. There’s a lunch break at a small crossing stream amid beautiful panoramic views of the gorges and valleys of northern Moorland. After Lunch, there’s a short hike of about an hour to the Mintos huts area, where a night break is taken. The altitude at this point is about 4200m. Plan is to rest early to plan for an early summit the following day.

The summit attempt is always done before dawn, begins at about 3 am, and takes about 4 hours right on time to catch a beautiful sunrise from the top of the sky. Point Lenana, 4985m is the hikers' summit. After sunrise, a gradual descent begins heading to Shipton camp for breakfast. This is followed by a slow lap of victory and celebration at Liki North camp which is about 3900m above sea level. This is an amazing trek filled with amazing scenery.

5.00This trip was amazing. We were two on a private tour organised by Kentau Safaris. The planning stage went very smoothly. Dominic at Kentau Safaris was extremely responsive, he understood all our questions and came back almost immediately with very clear and concise answers. If you are looking for a rock solid agent you cannot go wrong with these guys. Our guide, Edwin or Mwalimu (teacher) as he is referred to by colleagues on the mountain was great. He is both very experienced and in good shape. He was excellent at reading into how the weather was evolving and setting the pace for us on our hike. When we hiked to the top of Point Lenana, starting at 2 am, he set the pace so perfectly that we were 200 m from the summit at daybreak and we waited only 10 minutes at the top for the sun to rise. He is also very knowledgeable about the nature and history of the area. We are in no doubt that we had the best guide on the mountain We were also very happy with the chef and the team in general. The food was great, nice warm soups, beef or chicken stews, sautéed vegetables for dinner, porridge, eggs and sausages for breakfast. And popcorn as snacks when we got into camp early :). We were super happy with this trip from A to Z. If we were to do this again we would go straight to Kentau Safaris and ask for Mwalimu.

5.00We hiked the Mount Kenya with Kentau Safaris and were absolutely satisfied with the organization and execution. The manager Dominic Mwata was very responsive, competent and helpful in answering all our questions upfront and organized a powerful and experienced team that made the trip were convenient and an unforgettable breathtaking event. I can highly recommend this small and growing outdoor company and we already explored future trips with Dominic. Thumbs up!

5.00My wife and I had an excellent climbing experience, from the airport pick-up to the drop-off. Overall, I can confidently say we received great value for our money, just as promised during the negotiations. What impressed me most was the meticulous attention to safety. Nothing was rushed, and we summited in style. While the hike, especially summit day, was challenging, the team was amazing and made it a memorable experience for us. We received a lot of personal attention from the team and felt like royalty. This might be the advantage of choosing a small agency, or it could simply be a reflection of their exceptional service—I wouldn't know for sure.

5.00To everyone thinking of going climbing Mount Kenya i can highly recommend doing to the Chogoria-Sirimon Route as it was very gradual in the descent (which is easy on the legs and knees). Kentau Safaris made this Trek even More Easier for me with their highly skilled Guides. It was a very nice moment between me and My Wife Alice,. though she was too afraid but she was about to conquer the Mountain to the peak.
