Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins as you arrive at the Marangu Gate, the starting point for the Marangu Route. Here, you’ll complete park formalities and meet your team of experienced guides and porters. The trek starts with a hike through the lush rainforest, where you’ll encounter vibrant flora and fauna. The day’s journey covers approximately 8 kilometers and is relatively easy. Your first overnight stop is Mandara Hut, situated at an elevation of around 2,700 meters.

After a nourishing breakfast, you’ll continue your ascent, leaving the rainforest behind and entering the heathland zone. This leg of the journey offers glimpses of Mawenzi Peak, one of Kilimanjaro’s iconic formations. You’ll trek for approximately 12 kilometers, and your destination for the night is Horombo Hut, located at an altitude of about 3,700 meters.

Today’s hike takes you to Kibo Hut, which is situated at an altitude of approximately 4,700 meters. The landscape undergoes a dramatic change as you enter the alpine desert zone. You’ll catch your first glimpse of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, the dormant volcanic cones. The hike is challenging due to the increased altitude, so pacing and hydration are essential.

This is the most challenging and exhilarating day of your trek. Your ascent to the summit begins in the early hours of the morning, allowing you to reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, just before sunrise. The climb is both physically and mentally demanding but incredibly rewarding. After celebrating your achievement at the summit, you’ll begin your descent to Kibo Hut and then continue down to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.

The final day of your Kilimanjaro trek takes you from Horombo Hut back to the Marangu Gate. 5.00Did a 6 days shared tour for Kilimanjaro Marangu route with spirit of Kilimanjaro. Ended up I was the only one in the tour that started that day. The tour was well organized and the communication for the booking was done mainly through Whatsapp. Their pricing was within my budget. The guide, cooks and porters were very helpful during the hike. I won't have made it to the summit without them. The food throughout the tour was great, the pacing set by the guide was well capable for me too. Recommended anyone to consider joining a tour with spirit of Kilimanjaro.

We were accompanied by Paul & Sankey, our two guides for the 6 days, and a beautiful team of porters. Many thanks to all for having given us the most beautiful experience of our lives. We were welcomed in the best ways and at all altitudes. We recommend everyone to make your stay with this local agency, we are aware that without them, the adventure would never have been more beautiful. 5.00Our trip to the top of Kilimanjaro was unforgettable. Our group was four Venezuelan brothers (aged between our mid-30s and early 40s) with our 70-year-old dad. Our guide, Antipas, was excellent—always looking after our dad and making sure the whole team was on top of their game. The entire crew was very polite and paid attention to detail throughout. The food was good, the tents were comfortable, and everyone seemed to have a smile on their face every time we interacted with them during our 6-day journey. We will never forget this amazing experience, and we couldn’t have chosen a better company or crew to do it with. Thank you so much, guys!

5.00Hello, I took a six days kilimanjaro climbing via the marangu route and it was a very successful trip because we reached the peek of the mountain, the team was very good and supportive and mostly entertaining throughout the climbing experience so I couldn’t get tired easily. It was an amazing experience of my life.

5.00We left to make the Marangu road initially in 5 days. I was in touch with William who couldn’t come for family reasons and we left with Tuliza. Great organization, Tuliza and the whole team made sure that our ascent went well and that we returned on time since we finally made the road in 4 days. Special mention for our waiter who was always smiling and welcoming: Goofa.

5.00Hello, I spent six days with Emanuel during my ascent of Kilimanjaro last June. We were both with the rest of the team. I experienced the most wonderful days of my life by his side. We exchanged a lot, laughed, and shared many moments together. The whole team always took great care of me, from their daily attentions to the perfect equipment and delicious meals (incredible porridge in the morning and ginger tea). From the initial contact to the return to the airport, everything went perfectly. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend Spirit of Kilimanjaro.
