From Shira, climb towards the main peak Kibo, with the western glaciers clearly visible across the rugged high-altitude desert of volcanic rocks and boulders. Skirting around its base and under the imposing western Breach, descend into the sheltered Barranco Valley for mid-way camp at 3,950m. 6 to 7 hours walking and only 110m total ascent but having climbed much higher and dropped back down assists acclimatization.

You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek. At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all they way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit.

Selected 6 days Machame route climb. Initial contact and ordering was very smooth as as well as initial instruction. Our agency contact Jerome was very responsive, responded all questions and helped with any need. Team during trip was great. My guide Kenedy is true professional and guided me towards the target on summit which was accomplished. Follow his advices was a ceitical success factor to reach the summit. My chief Emily together with Alan provided best possible service during trip. Highly recommended!

The whole team was really great and super friendly. Went up during the world cup and we would all hang out in the tent and listen to the games in swahili on the radio and everyone would translate for me. Kilimanjaro was incredible, so glad to have made it to the summit, couldn't have done it without the team.
