5.00As a first time visitor to this lovely island of Penang, I wanted to see and learn as much as I could. I’m so very happy with my choice.. not only did I visit Penang Hill in the best possible way on the fast track and a front row seat, I learned so much about the culture and the people who built this wonderful city. My guide grew up here and probably knows this town as well as anybody and shared many cultural stories as she navigated the traffic like a pro. A six hour tour may sound like you see everything, but each stop along the way begs for a return as you could likely spend a day in each of the stops. This is an excellent way to get familiar with Penang Island. This trip isn’t about tourism for me. It’s about possible relocation and retirement.. This island has an energy to it, that is unlike your typical island vacation destinations, which can be kind of sleepy. And yes, there are large resorts here for that purpose. This is a vibrant city with fresh air, gorgeous views, and lovely people. My six hours flew by and fed my interest in living here. And clearly this is a food lovers paradise! I would highly recommend this be your first choice for a Penang tour as your fine spots that you’ll want to return to and yet satisfying if you only have a short stay. I’ve seen many videos on YouTube and other places of vloggers which drew me here to Penang Island, yet none of them do it justice. It’s so much better. I came here after a week in both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, both interesting destinations , but Penang offers enough energy as a city with a resort like feel. If you are looking to get your bearings, the lay of the land and a sense of your destination - Penang, this is the way to go.

5.00A really excellent day out thanks to our fantastic guide Teh. He met us at the port, took us around Penang, including Penang Hill, temples, really great Satay from a food court where the locals eat! (who know Satay was Malaysian.) and finishing at the War Memorial before delivering us back to the Ship. Teh had very good English and had knowledge of, and a passion for his city.

5.00We have just returned from our shore excursion and I must say we have had the best guide during this journey. We decided to book this excursion at dinner last night and Joey, our guide was very prompt to reply on WhatsApp giving instructions for this morning’s meet up. Our ship was delayed and Joey patiently waited for us. He sent a photo of himself with a sign showing my name so we located him quite easily. Joey can speak many languages. He is kind, caring and anticipated all our needs throughout the day. He led us to washrooms without us asking, provided bottled water in the car and took us to hawkers center for our lunch and even loaned us some local currencies to pay for them. To top all of that he took beautiful photos of us at our stops and sent them immediately on WhatsApp! These photos at this destination will be most memorable as they are not all selfies! Joey was like a good friend taking you on a tour of this charming place and I can’t recommend him enough. Thank you for a memorable visit to Penang!
