  We’ve just returned from our Kilimanjaro trek and had a truly wonderful experience. We felt so supported and well cared for by our incredible team throughout the journey. They even managed to make camping feel luxurious! Huge thanks to our amazing team: • Guides Hussein and Charles, who supported us all the way to Uhuru—even when we doubted ourselves. • Chef Moody, who kept us fuelled with delicious meals. • Our lovely waiter, Hashim, whose warm presence really brightened the experience. • And our incredible team of porters, who were so helpful and friendly and for teaching us how to play a new card game :) We booked both Kilimanjaro and our Serengeti safari through Jerome, who was very helpful and responsive to questions.   It was a fantastic experience. Yona and Kennedy are knowledgeable and extraordinary guides, available to help and take care of us, always in a good mood and with a contagious positive attitude. The entire team felt like a family, extremely friendly and hard-working. Machaka’s cooking kept our energy levels up, always eager to know which delights he would prepare each day.

  This trip was an incredible, once in a lifetime adventure that I’ll never forget. Hussein and the team were incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and they looked after me like their Dada (sister). The trip was well organised and very reasonable in cost. I would highly recommend Meru Slopes to organise any Kilimanjaro trekking. I’ll come back one day to do Mount Meru with them. It’s worth checking with Meru Slopes before departure how many people are on the tour with you. I ended up being the only one which I thought was amazing, but I know some people might find this a bit isolating.   I did the 7 day Kilimanjaro trip guided by Ismail and I had an incredible experience. The price was fair based on the excursion as compared to other companies. The guide and all the porters were amazing, sociable, helpful and professional. Ismail and David did a great job guiding us and answering any questions we potentially had. I'm happy to have went with Meru slopes and would do it again if I could!

  We climbed Kilimanjaro (5895 m) with the tour operator MERU SLOPES TOURS AND SAFARIS. We had a very nice experience. The manager Geoffroy listened to us and regularly ensured that everything was going according to our expectations. My wife and I were the only ones to make the climb with the support of Iona and Nicolas our 2 guides, the cook Jacob and 8 porters. Iona and Nicolas adapted to our rather fast pace because we had already climbed Mount Kenya just before and were therefore already acclimatized to the altitude. They were attentive and efficient in the most difficult times. Jacob prepared good, hearty meals that were available at the right time. We appreciated the reliability of the entire team and their attention so that we had an unforgettable experience We highly recommend MERU SLOPES TOURS AND SAFARIS. • Amazing 7-days Kilimandjaro Machamé trek: our dream comes true!

  The Kilimandjaro Machame trek with Meru Slopes was really amazing, especially thanks to our incredible guides Usain and Jona and their wonderful team ! From the very first day, Usain gave us a really clear and detailed explanation of the different stages of the trek from the start at the Machame gate to the summit and the return to the Mweka gate, which made us feel very confident. During the trek we have seen different kinds of beautiful landscapes (dense and light forest, dry land, volcano) and our guides showed us the local flora and fauna all along the way. Thanks to the great experience, good advices and kindness of the guides and the whole team, we were able to have a memorable trek and realize our dream to reach the summit ! We were also very pleasantly surprised by the food, which was excellent: succulent dishes to give us strength and hot drinks to keep us warm. If you want to do this trek, I recommend Meru Slopes, which is the best agency, and in particular the guides Husein and Jona, who were fantastic, the best guides ever !!!

• Amazing Kilimanjaro and Safari!

  We made it to the top of Kilimanjaro! And our time along the way was pretty cushy. We had a team of 9 to take care of just the two of us: 6 porters to carry supplies, tents, etc, 1 cook and 2 guides. We had hot, delicious food for every meal and a big tent with chairs and a table for eating. The food definitely helped to keep our mentality positive which helped a lot in reaching the goal. We would leave the camp before the porters but by the time we reached the next camp, the porters had already set everything up! The guides, William and Emmanuel, were experienced, knowledgeable, and strong, and every one of their recommendations turned out to be the right decision for us. All we had to do was put one foot in front of the other, which turned out to be completely necessary as we needed all our efforts and focus on the summit night, which was still incredibly challenging. But we really couldn't have made it up there without this team. We originally booked the tour for 7 days along the Lemosho route. We were doing well the first couple days so the guides recommended that we shorten the trek to 6 days by hiking to the base camp on the 4th day and summiting that night. It turned out to be the right decision for us in the end because we were still able to make it and it gave us time to rest before our safari but I wonder if it would have been a little less painful if we had taken more days. We were a little blindsided by the tipping culture as we hadn't researched it beforehand and the tour operator didn't say anything about tipping, we were only informed about it at the start of the trek. It comes out to be a pretty hefty amount, for us about 20% of the cost of the trek and I wish this was made more clear when we made the booking. I feel pretty bad about this but we weren't able to pay the right amount (the "right amount" is quoted everywhere online; we just didn't do that research until now). Other than this, the tour operator is very responsive over Whatsapp and helped us out a ton in preparing for this once in a lifetime experience. Our bags were delayed at the airport and so we basically didn't have anything with us, but William was able to help us buy or rent everything we needed to make it to the top. Meru slopes is also a great company to go with on a safari. We did a 7 day safari with Mudy as our guide, and we went to Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara. Mudy made sure we saw absolutely every animal! Some of them we definitely got really lucky, like the leopard and rhino, which are very rare and we only saw from far away. But Mudy was also hardworking and always made the right decisions, for example when looking for the great migration river crossing. He asked if we wanted to have lunch in the jeep in order to maybe get a better shot of the river crossing, and as it turned out we did get one! Mudy was also a great driver on the bumpy and unpaved roads of these wild Tanzanian parks, and he drove safely and quickly when he needed to get us to see an animal. Overall my only complaint is that his English could be better as his accent is hard to understand. Our cook, Dulla, was absolutely amazing and cooked such delicious meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dulla made a lot of cheese dishes and even made pizza with the limited supplies available. My favorite dish was this bean stew for lunch. We did a camping safari and the tents and mattresses were comfortable, nice, and warm. Meru slopes was very well equipped and provided everything we needed for a comfortable safari.

  It was a lifetime experience for us and first mountain hike. We were nervous about our ability to make it to the peak, but the experienced guides at Meru Slopes Tours calmed our nerves, discussed the plan, took us along the journey and turned it to a successful expedition. The experience started right from planning with Geofrey being very responsive and flexible with our plans. He was very accommodating and provided all the essentials at no extra costs and in the budget. Airport pick ups and drop offs were very timely. Geofrey and Guide Ismail, who is very experienced and knowledgeable, met us the day before our hike to review our preparations and ensure that they carry everything that was needed to the expedition. The assistant guides - Nolesco and Patrick were very patient and ensured that we preserve our energy through out the hike. Staff was very friendly, efficient and accommodating. The cook was flexible with food items with the limitations of what can be carried on the mountain heights. They were with us at every step, motivated us and ensured a successful hike to the Uhuru Peak !!!

  Before we arrived Geoffrey was very responsive and answered all of our questions very quickly. We missed our flight connection because of airline delays but Geoffrey and the Meru slopes team were really helpful and able to adapt easily with a new pick up. The mountain guide (William) and his team were absolutely incredible and we would 100% recommend using this team. They were great at answering our questions, told us lots of information about the mountain and made us feel very comfortable and safe through all the hiking, especially the summit hike and camping. Plus the ginger tea breaks on the mountain were a highlight! The mountain team were also great at catering to vegetarians and we were very well fed for the whole trip.
