Known for being beautifully scenic, the Machame Route also has the best summit success rate. This route allows you to “climb high, sleep low”, giving your body time to adjust to the changes in altitude over several days. Climbs can take six or seven days; however, we would always advise choosing the longer route for the best chance of acclimatization and reaching the summit.

After breakfast, you’ll get picked up from your hostel/hotel in Moshi and driven to the starting point at Machame Gate (approximately 45 mins). After registration, you will begin your journey to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro using a well-maintained trail through Montane Forest. On the way, you’ll walk through dense rainforest and coffee plantations as your guide talks you through some of the local flora and fauna. Here you will also get a very good chance of witnessing Black and White Colobus monkeys, as well as many different species of brightly-colored birds. The climb is steady and gradual incline to Machame Camp which is located on the edge of the rainforest and giant heather zones. On the second day, you’ll rise early for breakfast and begin climbing a slightly steeper gradient through the moorland vegetation zone. Here you will start to get fantastic views of Kibo, the summit cone of Mt. Kilimanjaro while continuing along a rocky ridge to Shira Plateau. Shira is actually a collapsed volcanic crater and was the first of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones to expire. Once on the plateau, the trail becomes a little easier as you make your way to Shira Camp. If it’s a clear day, you’ll also get to enjoy superb panoramic views. Shira Camp is very exposed and will feel much colder with temperatures dropping below freezing point. Elevation Gain: 840 metres / 2,800 feet Hiking Time: Approximately 5 to 6 hours Habitat: Moorland
DAY 3: SHIRA CAMP (3,840M/12,600FT) TO BARRANCO CAMP (3,850M/12,650FT) VIA LAVA TOWER (4,550M/14,900FT)

The route now takes you into semi-desert and rocky landscapes surrounding Lava Tower, a 300ft high volcanic rock formation. You’ll then ascend the rocky scree path to Lava Tower for great panoramic views, before a steep descent into the Barranco Valley. You may find this trek a little tougher than the previous days as some hikers usually start to experience symptoms of altitude sickness. Although you will finish today’s climb at almost the same elevation as you started, this is a very good practice for acclimatization and will help prepare your body for summit day. Barranco Camp lies below the imposing Barranco Wall in a beautiful, sheltered valley. Elevation Gain: 710 metres / 2,300 feet Elevation Loss: 700 metres / 2,250 feet Hiking Time: Approximately 6 to 7 hours Habitat: Alpine desert
DAY 4 : BARRANCO CAMP (3,850M/12,650FT) TO KARANGA CAMP (3,995M/13,106FT)

This will be a shorter day of hiking to allow for acclimatization. After breakfast, you will begin to ascend the Barranco Wall and hike glacial valleys – but don’t worry, it is easier than it looks! From the top of the wall, you will then cross a series of hills and valleys before descending into Karanga Valley. After one steeper climb, you’ll reach Karanga Camp where you will relax for the afternoon before dinner and an overnight rest. Elevation Gain: 145 meters / 456 feet Hiking Time: Approximately 4 to 5 hours Habitat: Alpine desert

After breakfast, you will leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects to the famous Mweka Trail. You will then continue along the rocky ridge for 1 to 2 hours before reaching Barafu Camp, which offers stunning views of Mt. Kilimanjaro’s summit from various angles. Your tents will be pitched along a narrow and rocky ridge with high winds. It’s therefore worth taking some time to familiarize yourself with your surroundings before it gets dark. Rest for the night at Barafu Camp and prepare for the upcoming hike to the summit. Elevation Gain: 605 metres / 1,994 feet Hiking Time: Approximately 3 to 4 hours Habitat: Alpine desert
DAY 6 : BARAFU CAMP (4,600M/15,100FT) TO UHURU PEAK (5,895M/19,300FT) THEN DESCENDING TO MILLENIUM OR MWEKA CAMP

We start off at around midnight and walk steeply upwards to the summit glaciers. We will be climbing scree for 4 to 5 hours but gain incredible height over a short distance. The views are spectacular. We should be on the crater rim at Stella Point (5739m) as the first rays of the sun hit us. Spectacular ice cliffs within the crater surround us and the views to jagged Mawenzi peak and beyond are breathtaking. Another hour’s walking takes us to the summit, Uhuru Peak (5895m). We begin our descent by returning to Stella Point and then descending on scree slope and track back to Barafu Camp for breakfast, before finally heading down to millennium or Mweka Camp for a long well-earned rest. Distance: 5km/3miles and 7km/4mile Hiking Time: 6-8 hours and 2-4 hours Eleven: 15,331 ft to 19,341ft and 12,434 ft Vegetation: Arctic to Heath

You will begin the easiest part of your adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro via scenic path through the forest to Mweka Gate. Successful hikers who made it to Stella Point and Uhuru Peak will be awarded their certificates at the gate. We have a laughing, Chinese-speaking Tyran guide, and a great driver, and we're looking for Ayoub, a first-rate animal guide! We saw all the amazing things we wanted to see. 5.00We had an exceptional experience with Williamson Adventure, arranging two activities with them back-to-back: a safari and a Kilimanjaro climb. Despite finalizing our plans just a week before departure, they managed everything seamlessly, and the pricing remained standard with a generous discount from the owner. For the safari, booking a tented camp usually requires advance notice, but after we confirmed our plans, the owner personally took the time to call and email the hotels repeatedly to check availability. Our safari guide was extremely professional and experienced. Thanks to his expertise, we were able to see all of the Big Five, including a rhino that we photographed up close. The entire safari was a fantastic experience. This positive experience led us to choose Williamson Adventure for our subsequent Kilimanjaro climb. After finalizing the itinerary, the owner personally took us to rent the necessary equipment, even staying with us until 9 PM. He also recommended some excellent local restaurants. The climbing guides and staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and professional, always attentive to our physical condition and well-being. They provided invaluable assistance throughout the climb, helping us successfully reach the summit. We are extremely grateful for the services provided by the company and its staff. We highly recommend Williamson Adventure!

5.00WilliamsomAdventures is a very recommendable Safari team, in the pre-consultation and confirmation of details William gave me the biggest feeling of professionalism and reliability. As I was travelling alone with my children on the safari, I was very satisfied with the safety and hassle-free experience throughout the trip, all the matters were just as William had arranged for us before departure, and all our requirements were greatly satisfied. Our guide, Ibra, was very professional on our safari and helped us to maximise our safari with safety in mind, we saw a lot of animals on our journey and he introduced us to many of them to help us understand the land better. Undoubtedly, my children and I were very impressed with this trip in July and I would gladly recommend them to friends who are interested in going Safari in Tanzania.

5.00I'm thrilled with Williamson Adventures! My brother and I traveled from Canada and were initially quite nervous about trekking Mount Kilimanjaro. However, upon arriving in Moshi, all our nerves vanished. We were warmly welcomed at the hotel by William and one of our guides, who were incredibly friendly. The rest of the trip was fantastic! The guides, porters, and cooks were all amazing, and the food was delicious. The support and encouragement we received throughout exceeded our expectations. Planning the trip required some coordination, but William was always quick to respond and incredibly helpful. For example, he seamlessly arranged our pick-up from Nairobi to Moshi. He also organized an extra night at the hotel in Moshi and an airport shuttle, even though he didn't have to. This company truly goes above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable. We highly, highly recommend Williamson Adventures! Thanks to William, our guides Kevin and Yoeseff, and our amazing porters—the real superheroes!

Witnessing the Great Migration in person was an awe-inspiring spectacle, and Raymond Our Guide added an educational layer that deepened our appreciation. His passion for wildlife is contagious! 5.00From the first day of emailing Williamson Adventures for a safari and Kilimanjaro quote we were answered in professional way with full of information about the tour in Tanzania.The Director William was helpful and well organized our Kilimanjaro trek and 5 days safari , we started hiking for 6 days machame , the team was very helpful and the porter were strong and friends they really supported us to carry our luggages and guide was very professional especially during the summit day we really appreciate them . After safari we went to safari where we saw many animals excluding rhino because the guide explained that they're now endangered sometimes it's hard to spot them although it was good experience, the food good and accommodation was superb with high comfortability. 5.00My husband and I booked 7 days Machame route Kilimanjaro mountain climb with Williamson adventures, we liked the experience from the day we started hiking up to last day at mweka camp. The tour was very organized and the team was extremely friendly . During the summit Day it's was really challenging for me but the guide and porter was really helpful and fun to be around , the food was delicious and plentiful so we really appreciate our chef , the tent were top quality and brand new so we slept in comfortable tents . I really recommend Mr William to arrange your Kilimanjaro mountain trekking if you wish to make it to the top of Kilimanjaro mountain. Best wishes from USA
