Hike Kibo Hut to Summit, and down to Horombo Hut Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), commence the climb to the summit on steep and heavy scree or snow up to Gilman’s point located on the crater rim. Continuing, we now ascend to Uhuru Peak, which is the highest point in Africa. There are unbelievable views at every turn. Have your picture taken at the summit to show your friends and family. From here we descend, stopping for lunch and a rest at Kibo before continuing on to the Horombo encampment. The beginning of this climb is done in the dark and requires headlamps or flashlights. It will be very cold until you start descending, so you will need all of your warm layers. This is by far the most difficult part of the trek with many switchbacks. And an optimistic attitude will get you there Elevation: 4700m/15,500ft to 5895m/19,340ft Down to 3700m/12,200ft Distance: 6km/4mi up / 15km/9mi down Hiking Time: 6-8 hours up / 15km/9mi down Habitat: Alpine Desert.

Unforgettable experience on this 7-day trek to climb Kilimanjaro: the whole team was exceptional: guides Samuel Edgar and Justin were incredibly motivating, always there to reassure us at every stage which made the ascent much easier. Their professionalism and kindness really made the difference. Special mention to the food that was simply delicious. We didn't expect to eat so well and so much in the mountains. We were even allowed a homemade pizza at 4,000 meters above sea level. Chapeau Baraka! The team of porters was also incredible (spiax fell, stéphano, Jackson, Francis, iddy, John Michael, richard, Hassan, Herman, gasper, Edward, Ramadham, Ernest, martin, justimi, Robert and of course mr secret). Their good mood was communicative. Their good care, their courage and their songs that made us reach the top. At the top an unforgettable view! In short a great human adventure that I recommend to all trekking enthusiasts.

Great experience with an incredibly kind and helpful team! We felt safe with our 3 guides: Samuel, Justin and Edgar, always attentive to us and always in a good mood!! The porters were very courageous and always smiling, ready to help us at any time. And the cook Cyprien and his assistant Barack delighted us! The 7-day itinerary was perfect for acclimatizing to the altitude and the motivation of the guides allowed us to go to the summit! Thanks to the entire Sandipipers team, and to Abouh who managed everything. I recommend !!!
