Five friends and I traveled to East Africa to hike Mt Kilimanjaro. I knew the trip was going to be a wonderful adventure but I didn’t realize what a positive impact our guides and porters would have on me, on us. Our friend who set up the trip did all the research on tour groups and she selected Habari because of their reputation, the fact that they’re Tanzanian-owned, and that they give back to the community through an endowment fund. Even more, the guides and porters were spectacular! They took such amazing care of us. Leon, Justo, and Michael, our guides, led the way pole, pole, singing songs and getting to know each of us. They led with conviction, compassion, and strength. Pray, aka Mr. Wow, greeting us with tea during hiking breaks, warm morning greetings asking if he could bring us coffee or tea, “washy-washy” water twice a day, and serving our meals and always smiling. And then there was Magic Jimmy, our chef, who baked a birthday cake at 14,000 feet and made 2 different meals when we forgot to mention one of us has a sensitivity to green peppers. (When they ask for dietary restrictions or sensitivities, mention anything and everything!). Amadeus had the toilet job and he gets an extra god star! (You definitely want to consider having your own toilet for the group!) The rest of the porters set up and tore down our tents and carried everything to the next camp. Their strength and resilience was incredible to witness. Often they’d be so far ahead they’d come back down the trail after setting up and carry our packs for the last half mile or so. This trip would have been fun with just the 6 of us, but Habari made it the experience of a lifetime!!

My 5-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Experience with Habari Adventure (7th October – 12th October, 2025) Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, was a life-changing journey filled with breathtaking scenery, meaningful challenges, and exceptional support from the dedicated team at Habari Adventure. Every day offered something unforgettable, and the professionalism of the crew made the entire climb smooth, safe, and incredibly rewarding. Day 1: Machame Gate → Machame Camp We began our adventure through the lush rainforest via the Machame Route. The trail was filled with birds, monkeys, and a calming mountain mist that welcomed us into the wilderness. The Habari Adventure guides set the tone immediately — energetic, friendly, and always checking on us. They shared stories, reminded us to go “pole pole,” and made sure we were comfortable from the very first step. Arriving at Machame Camp, we were greeted with warm meals, laughter, and a cozy tent that felt like a home in the mountains. Day 2: Machame Camp → Shira Camp The forest slowly opened into the wide moorland, revealing dramatic views of Mount Meru and the majestic peak of Kilimanjaro ahead. The Habari team kept us hydrated, adjusted the pace perfectly, and helped us acclimatize without pressure. At Shira Camp, we shared jokes with the crew over delicious food and felt more confident and connected as a group. Day 3: Shira Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp This was one of the toughest days. We climbed up to Lava Tower (4,600m) for acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp. Some team members felt the altitude, but the Habari guides handled everything with patience, experience, and genuine care. They monitored our health closely, offered encouragement, and kept everyone motivated. Their calm leadership gave us the confidence to keep going. Day 4: Barranco Wall → Karanga Camp The climb up the Barranco Wall was thrilling — steep but incredibly fun. Thanks to the expert guidance of the Habari team, what looked intimidating became one of the most enjoyable moments of the trek. Reaching the top felt amazing. The shorter trail to Karanga Camp gave us time to rest, enjoy the scenery, and refuel with meals that kept getting better and more flavorful each day. Day 5: Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp Our final ascent to Barafu Camp, the summit base, was more rugged and demanding. The air grew thinner, but the Habari Adventure crew made sure we stayed warm, hydrated, and well-fed. Before we slept, the team gathered us for a heartfelt pep talk that pushed our confidence to the highest level. The excitement for summit night was powerful — we felt truly ready.

I booked a 7 day Machame route climb and 4 day safari with Habari for me and 5 others after reading positive reviews of several travel companies across the internet. I have no doubt I made the right choice! The Habari team on the mountain was nothing short of spectacular taking care of all our needs and doing everything possible to ensure a positive experience. We laughed, sang and danced together all the way to the summit. We were treated with unexpected luxuries and care. The safari guide was excellent and had a depth of knowledge that I don't think we got to the bottom of. He made sure we saw all the animals and birds possible. We geeked out on the diverse avian population as well as all the animals everyone wants to see. We are all so grateful for our team at Habari for such a great trip and look forward to visiting again to do another route to the top.

We are an incredible group of 8 nature lovers. Once a year, we reunite to take on new nature adventures. Last year, we travelled by road to experience the Great Victoria Falls. This year, we took on yet our biggest challenge, conquering the Kilimanjaro. We chose no one else but Habari Adventures for this visit. The Machame route offered a balance of challenge and spectacular views. Our guides were full of jokes, songs and encouragement. Summit day was epic, with an early morning hiss of steaming tea and the sunrise at Uhuru. It felt like we had conquered life together, childhood friends turned adventurers. We ticked off Kilimanjaro, thanks to the Habari Adventures team.

We did a 7-day Kilimanjaro trek via the Machame route with Habari Adventure, and it was an unforgettable experience. Our guides, Oscar and Jackson, led us with outstanding professionalism and care every step of the way. Their advice was always spot-on, and they immediately solved any minor issue we encountered. Thanks to their excellent leadership, we reached the summit as the second group that day, even though many others had started ahead of us – a truly memorable moment. Both guides were intelligent, funny, and easy to trust, which made a huge difference during the 7 days of trekking and camping together. They also made sure we had plenty of great photos, especially on summit day when we had little energy to take them ourselves. The food on the mountain was genuinely restaurant-quality. Our cook prepared mostly local Tanzanian dishes, but also some familiar meals – we even had freshly made pizza at base camp (4600m!). Everything was delicious, and we never experienced any loss of appetite, which is crucial for maintaining energy at high altitude. We had brought our own snacks, but it turned out to be unnecessary – every day we received a well-packed snack bag with chocolate, biscuits, etc. The whole team was incredibly supportive. The porters greeted us warmly every day and did an amazing job. We were always the first to leave camp, but when we arrived at the next one, everything – tents, tables, etc. – was already perfectly set up. Our tent was spacious, with a small vestibule and table to relax. Compared to many other groups, we clearly had a more comfortable setup. After the climb, we went on a 3-day safari to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, staying in camp-style accommodation. The experience was just as good. Our safari guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, spotting wildlife from far away that other groups missed – like a lion mating scene we got to witness alone. Our safari cook (same chef as on the mountain) continued to impress with delicious meals. The safari vehicle had USB charging ports, power outlets, and a fridge stocked with beer, water, and other drinks, which we could enjoy at any time. Sleeping in the middle of a national park might sound intimidating at first, but it felt completely safe and turned out to be a wonderful experience. Habari Adventure also rents out high-quality trekking gear at reasonable prices. They replied quickly to emails and organized everything for us – airport transfers, hotel bookings, etc. We didn’t have to worry about a thing once we arrived. One of our main criteria was to support a local Tanzanian company, and we’re so glad we chose Habari. They exceeded every expectation and made this adventure truly special. Highly, highly recommended!

We drove Machame in 7 days with Habari. It was a great experience and a lot thanks to the team that accompanied us. I note three essential points: 1) the professionalism of the guides: they are really there to coach us and make us go to the top: walking rhythm, hydration, equipment, acclimatization to the altitude, taking the oxygen level in the blood evening and morning,... every detail counts and they leave nothing to chance. That's why it's important to listen to them. 2) food: a cook who prepares real dishes at more than 4,000 m, wouaouw. I'm not saying anything more so as not to spoil. 3) The energy, enthusiasm and organization of the porters: after you leave in the morning, they fold the camp, pass you and go up the new camp before you arrive and all with a smile.

Together with my daughter, I climbed Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route at the beginning of June 2025, organized by Habari Adventures – and what an unforgettable adventure it turned out to be! From the very first contact, Habari Adventures inspired confidence: excellent communication, clear information, and a warm welcome upon arrival. Our team of guides, porters, and cooks was exceptionally professional, friendly, and dedicated. They not only ensured our safety but also created a fantastic atmosphere throughout the entire climb. The route itself was breathtakingly beautiful. Every day brought new landscapes – from lush rainforest to alpine desert, and finally reaching the summit: a snow-covered Uhuru Peak. The guidance from our guides was invaluable; they constantly monitored our health and acclimatization and kept us motivated during the toughest moments. Thanks to their support, my daughter and I ultimately stood on the summit of Kilimanjaro – an emotional and proud moment that we will both cherish forever. The organization of meals, camp setup, and daily planning was impeccable. It’s incredible how much comfort the team was able to provide, even at high altitude. I wholeheartedly recommend Habari Adventures to anyone who wants to take on this special challenge. The combination of professional leadership and warm, personal attention makes all the difference. Thank you, Habari team, for an experience that we – as father and daughter – will never forget!
