Ethnological Museum
Start the day looking down on Addis Ababa from Entoto Mountain, the capital of Ethiopia before Addis Ababa. Here you will have panoramic views of the city with fresh air from the eucalyptus forests. Here you will visit the Entoto Maryam church and museum. After the visit, proceed down to Addis Ababa via Shiro Meda, the city’s largest market for traditional clothes. Proceed to the campus of Addis Ababa University to the ethnographical museum, with great displays of the many cultures of Ethiopia, housed in the former palace of Haile Selassie. Continue with a visit to the National Museum, where Ethiopia’s oldest resident, Lucy, is housed. Close to the National Museum is the Selassie (Trinity) church, one of the most important churches of Addis Ababa and the final resting place of Haile Selassie, to whom there is a dedicated museum on site. Finish the day with shopping in merkato, the local marketplace which is said to be Africa’s largest open-air market.

The tour guide was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and truly passionate about his work. He didn’t just show me places..he shared stories, culture, food and insights that made every location come alive. Exploring Ethiopia with him made the whole experience even more special. 5.00We had a 15-hour layover in Addis Ababa at the end of March and decided to book a tour with Haile so we wouldn’t spend the whole time at the airport. It ended up being one of the best parts of our trip. Haile was very friendly and enjoyable to spend the day with. We visited the National Museum of Ethiopia and the Haile Selassie Palace, and he explained the history in a way that was really interesting and easy to follow. One of my favorite parts of the day was sitting down and sharing a meal together. It didn’t feel like a rushed tour — it felt more like spending time with a local who genuinely enjoys showing people his country. Ethiopia has always been a dream destination for me, so even this short visit meant a lot. Haile made the experience very memorable and I felt completely comfortable and relaxed the whole time. If you have a layover in Addis Ababa or just want to explore the city with someone knowledgeable and kind, I’d definitely recommend touring with Haile.

5.00I just returned from a wonderful trip to Ethiopia! I did not have a lot of time as my trip was only 6 nights but I covered a lot. I hired Haile at Sycamore Tours to plan my trip and highly recommend him. I did one full day tour of Addis (Freedom Park, Entoto Park, Ethiopia National Museum, Menelik II Palace,Victory Monument, Mercato Market, and Shiro Meda Market), visited the Dorze village, Arba Minch, Lake Chamo, and Lake Hawassa. We also visited the fish market in Hawassa, Gudamale National Park and Abijatta Shalla National Park.

5.00One must take chances in life - and this chance was amazing..from the details planning to wonderful and trust worthy driver and tour guide..both of were very knowledgeable. They both made me feel safe and comfortable..everything I wanted to do and more were accomplished. Can’t wait to be back. 5.00We booked our city tour before one day and the tour operator was very helpful and he managed all organising our tour. We explore the capital city of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. We visited the national museum, entoto park ,merkato and coffee tour . We are glad we booked with sycamore tours and everything went smoothly. We highly recommend them for Addis Ababa city tour and others.

4.00Haille, the company owner, was very easy to communicate with and planned the tour well ahead of time. He took the initiative to the ensure it would be a smooth pick up the day before. He was also present on day one to personally meet up and introduce us to our guide. We did a two day tour of Addis, with Messi our guide. Messi was extremely informative and communicated in English as requested most of the time. He knows many other languages. Messi was also very flexible, allowing us to adjust the schedule to fit in personal tasks. He often checked to ensure the pace of the tour was to our liking. The driver Abuie also made us feel very safe. Haille took us out one evening for dinner and a show with other tour participants. Overall a great way to see Addis.

5.00We went on an Addis Ababa city tour with Meseret. The tour spanned two days. Meseret was highly knowledgeable and conducted the tour at our pace. It was conducted mostly in English. We loved the tour and would highly recommend it to anybody looking to explore Addis Ababa.
