This is another experience I will always remember. I was picked up from the airport by my excellent driver. He was kind enough to point out the highlights of Dubai and made sure I had his contact info so I could message him when I was ready to leave. The Burj is a stunning hotel and is a landmark in Dubai. I thought the walk over the bridge would be longer, but it seems that no one walks. I walked in after my tea and before my pick up to take pictures of the Burj which lights up at night and of Jumeirah beach. The burj is opulence to the max. The staff is friendly and attentive. As soon as you enter there is a gold and black set of cubes that put on waterfall show. There are two large aquariums near the escalator. As you exit the escalator, there are many luxury shops, a spectacular chandelier and a floor mosaic. The tea is held in the sky lounge now so you can have better views of Jumeirah beach. There is a very limited view of the palm. The experience includes a ride up in a glass elevator tear allows you to preview what you will see in the sky lounge. Almost all tables are window seats. The tea starts with an amuse touches, savory treats and either champagne if you opted for the alcoholic package or apple cider with gold leaf in it and a bottle of water (still or sparking). I have food allergies which i notified in advance. Everything was accommodated. The service was excellent. Sadly I cannot find my waiters name, but he really was very nice and attentive. The savory sandwiches were delicious. Best cucumber sandwich I ever had and there was a chicken brioche sandwich that was spectacular. The apple cider was fine. I have had better, but i come from a place where some of the best apples in the world are harvested. I dont see the gold leaf having enhanced anything. The tea comes with the sweet desserts on a platter that is the shape of the burj al Arab. It is quite striking. Everything looked like it was food magazine ready. The tea is served in contemporary tea wear in a small pot that yields two cups of tea. First, I ordered the chai. I was not overly impressed by it as it was too mild for my liking. You are able to switch your tea, so i switched to an earl gray. That was better, but having come off a trip where I had tea in a tea plantation, this tea was not on par with what I had. Had I not had that type of tea before, I am sure i would have thought the tea was great. All of the sweet deserts were wonderful. Well balanced, not overly sweet, but the chocolate ones were very rich. I would not finish it. The toilet in the burj is quite amazing. First time I took pictures of a washroom in my life. It is best to go around 3 to 4 pm because you see the day and the sunset which is stunning. You can see the night sky as you leave. The only thing I did not know is that actual cameras are not allowed in the hotel. Only cellphone cameras. So it you are hoping to get sharp images from the sky view, your cell better have excellent zoom and pixellation When returning to the airport, my driver Imiatz wad kind enough to take a scenic route so that I could the Burj Khalifa and museum of the future. I had mentioned to him that I wanted to try tea karak, so he made a quick stop and bought one for me on the way to the airport. A quick note about the dress code. When I went, no one was overly dressed up in afternoon tea attire, but people were dressed well. Ladies were in a nice blazer or jacket and skirt ot blouse. Some women wore dresses. Men seemed more dressed up, but no kne was wearing a tux and only a few wore ties. It is a bit more business casual than a formal high tea. No need for a fascinator or heels. I could not have had a better layover experience. The driver and the afternoon tea experience was excellent. 7 stars like the Burj Al Arab.

The view. The food. The staff. The venue. All absolutely amazing! The selection of food is limited and if you’re more savoury than sweet you don’t get much savoury. But it’s unlimited drinks. The cakes and the savoury tasted absolutely delicious! Camila was lovely and very kind very helpful.
