  We were very disappointed by the tea service at this ancient and famed site. The tea itself was served lukewarm, and as it sat in the pot during our adventure it became impossibly tannic to the point of being undrinkable. Then things got bad. The savory finger sandwiches were dainty if you’re an ogre with hands the size of Shrek’s. They include a bagel with cream cheese and salmon, egg salad, tuna, and a very bizzare cheddar cheese concoction. None of them was good, and all had been prepared hours before and were soggy and sad. The sweet treats - including almond dots, chocolate chip cookies (I think they may have been Chips A-Hoy), macarons, a chocolate cake, a coconut cake and a house made chocolate truffle - were marginally better, but by the slightest of margins. The scone and clotted cream were acceptable. But for $100 per person ($400 for a party of 4), I would have expected much more. Nothing seemed particularly authentic. Save perhaps the languid service. Save your money. Get all these things on your cruise ship and buy a rum cake to take home!

  For those that appreciate history and the grandeur, this is the place to visit. The service ant all appointments were quietly spectacular.

  The whole tea experience was fun. The pimento cheese sandwich was the good, the others were blah. The scone with clotted cream and jam was delish. It was over priced for what you get.

  It was ok expecting a group but arrived no guide just a hostess and us. Food was ok, clotted cream was just sour cream not real clotted cream. Overall service ok food ok, could have made reservations on my own and saved money.

• A Lovely Afternoon Tea Experience at the Graycliff Hotel

  While on a cruise to the Bahamas, I enjoyed a wonderful Afternoon Tea at the Graycliff Hotel. Since I did not know that I needed to have a reservation ahead of time, when I got to the hotel, which was a short walk from the cruise port, the lady at the front desk was very gracious and said that she would ask if I would be able to have Tea without a reservation. She came back and said that they could accommodate me, if I didn't mind waiting about half an hour, which I said I would gladly do. I waited in the one of the beautiful sitting rooms, which was very relaxing and took me back in time. The tea, sandwiches, scones and sweets, including a tasty chocolate made in the Graycliff Chocolate Factory were all delicious, and the service was very good, relaxed and un-pretentious. I felt very welcome and the whole experience was special. When I finished, I walked out through the beautiful garden and visited the chocolate factory, where I bought some chocolate to take home.

  Cruisers! Think you’ve done everything in Nassau? Try this cool and classy option for tea. No sun, no crowd, no cab, NO SWIMSUITS. One shady walk from the crowds. Not accessible.

  

• Not worth the cost

  While the hotel itself is a beautiful location, and the staff were very lovely and attentive- I do not feel that the food that we received was worth anywhere near what we paid. Tuna sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, dry scones and small bites of cake that easily could’ve come from a grocery store are not worthy of the cost. Nothing about the presentation of the food felt special, and sadly it wasn’t even that good flavour-wise. Unless you have an overwhelming craving for mediocre cake and box lunch sandwiches- save your money.

  

• Tea and chocolate - Graycliff style

  The setting was perfect for afternoon tea -- stately china, crystal, attentive wait staff and delicious food. My absolute favorite element was the Graycliff chocolate. What a nice memory of a wonderful afternoon.

  Phenomenal experience. The service was very attentive. All the breads and pastries were so fresh tasting and the tea was scrumptious. We were served fresh warm from the oven baked scones. I would highly recommend this experience.
