4.00Staff at the pier were efficient, coordinated and friendly. Once on the island, national park service officer gives a short and sweet spiel. Ferry staff is also on top of their stuff. The audio guide, with narration from old prisoners and old guards is stimulating and helps create imagery of daily life. A few things I think could improve, some warnings, like, WARNING, the grounds are covered with birds, and therefore LOTS of poop, so it’s stinky. There are also an immeasurable amount of flies that land on everyone waiting in line to leave the island and while docked. The grounds you can explore are pretty limited at this time, due to construction.
