  We had a great tour guide like Northan.. me and my wife from India visited all the major sites in Alexandria under her knowledgeable guidance.

  It was a good trip and, our guide, Mohamed Salman, knew a lot of interesting historical facts and most helpful about all sorts of things.

  I booked only the driver and hotel pick up. The driver was fine . However, I didn’t want a tour guide . It turned out the tour guide was taking much time one some spot we didn’t like to visit. So basically you just need to wait for others the whole day for others. I liked the beach side . But he only took into an expensive restaurant. Where I would love to have some flexibility to try with my family.

  This tour’s biggest issue is the content itself, it is absolutely not worth the time or the money. The itinerary is misleading, several major promised stops are skipped entirely, and what’s left is essentially a long, exhausting day of driving with very little to show for it. You’re far better off spending the day exploring Cairo, where you can see significantly more without wasting 15 hours on a tour that underdelivers. Although the description promised visits to the Citadel of Qaitbay, St. Mark’s Church, the Roman Theater, and two mosques, we never visited any of them. We stopped at only one mosque, and even then, we saw it only from the outside. The Citadel of Qaitbay and St. Mark’s Church, both highlighted in the promotional photos, were skipped without explanation. The Roman Theater was also never shown. In reality, the tour amounted to the Library of Alexandria, the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, and a long series of drive-bys and quick photo stops. Our guide, Mahmoud, was wonderful, knowledgeable, passionate, and a great photographer, but he was the only real bright spot in a day that otherwise felt wasted. Pickup set the tone for the rest of the experience. We were collected around 7 a.m. by a driver who spoke little English and someone named Peter. After several pickups, Peter left abruptly without any explanation or warning, and we spent the entire drive from Cairo to Alexandria in silence, aside from a brief bathroom break, until finally meeting Mahmoud hours later. We spent over six hours in the minibus just traveling, leaving almost no time to meaningfully explore anything. The only two sites we actually entered were the Library of Alexandria and the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, and while the catacombs were interesting, they were nowhere near worth the long, draining journey. By the time we returned to Cairo around 10 p.m., the 15-hour tour felt exhausting and empty, with very little to justify the time or the cost. Skip this tour and keep your day for Cairo instead.

• A day in Alexandria

  An interesting drive from Cairo. It was a cool day but sunny day and the beach was not crowded. Unfortunately we travelled on Friday so the Mosque was closed to us which was sad. It was also under renovation . The church was lovely and had a calm feel.

• Whistle stop tour of Alexandria. Expensive as a solo traveller

  The drive to/from Alexandria was comfortable. Mohamed, who met us there was very friendly and knowledgeable, showed us the sites and gave a good talk about all the places we visited. An enjoyable day. It was not clear from the booking page that this is a group tour. Good for me as I’m travelling solo however I felt somewhat overcharged. I paid £131, whereas if there were 2 or more in the booking they pay £78 each. I thought that since it was probably a private tour that this additional price was reasonable, but for a group tour I feel this is a massive surcharge for a solo traveller. So this was disappointing. I’d like to know how that is justified in this instance. There were 7 of us on the day.

  We had a great time at the library of Alexandria. The tour included all the museums inside. Norhan guided us very well through them.

  The tour was well organized, very well explained, we were picked up at the hotel and mohamed our guide liked it very much, the only thing we took it in Spanish and the night before we were told that we could not give it in Spanish and we had to have it in English otherwise well

  

• Long day with some highlights

  It was a good way to see Alexandria, though the tour was a bit rushed. Some things we saw in depth and others were kind of brushed over. The biggest issue our group had was on the return. On the return to Cairo there was no restroom break and once we were in Cairo the driver went to the furthest hotel from Alexandria. We went through Cairo backwards and it took over four hours for us to get back. Another couple it took over five hours. Why drive by the areas we are staying and go all the way past the airport to New Cairo? It made for a very long day.
