5.00normally don’t take the time to write reviews unless the experience is truly great to exceptional, and Discover Beijing Tour was absolutely exceptional. I was picked up from my hotel exactly at the confirmed time from the day before. Although we booked a group tour, we were pleasantly surprised to be placed on a private VIP tour with just the two of us. Our tour guide, Mina, was amazing. She was incredibly knowledgeable about both the Summer Palace and the Great Wall, and we learned so much throughout the trip. She also went above and beyond by taking us to jade and tea shops after we mentioned we were interested in visiting them. I would strongly recommend this tour, and if possible, ask for Mina as your guide. Thank you for such a memorable experience!

5.00Sherry and Xia were an excellent team for this day trip. The time was equally divided and we were blessed with excellent weather. Sherry was informative of the history of the sites and explaining her culture which she is passionate about. The lunch is a tourist buffet style and we didn’t eat as we had had a large breakfast. A local restaurant lunch may be superior for small group tours as there were very large bus groups which detracted from the atmosphere a bit.

5.00The experience was great! Andy was our tour guide and he was super helpful, he gave us a bunch of explanations for both Great Wall and Summer Palace! He made the experience really enjoyable and he also helped us on recommendations post the tour. Great guide that I would 100% recommend!

5.00Oh man, we were SO glad to have done this tour. Doing a private tour is WAYYYY better than going on your own. Our amazing guide, Lucy, met us at our hotel with the driver right on schedule. The weather was a little foggy, so she switched up our itinerary so we could go to the Summer Palace and wait for the fog to clear before we went to the Great Wall. By the time we left, the weather was perfect and we were able to make it to the wall. She got us around the long security lines, and gave us guidance on how to go up via cablecar, walk down the wall to the chairlift/toboggan station to avoid the crowds. The walk was incredible, the crowds were manageable, and it was mostly downhill over uphill. She gave us so much information and history about The Wall as we went, and took SO many photos for us. After we got down (we were up there for a couple hours), she and our driver took us to a nice local buffet, before driving us back to Beijing. She also offered to buy tickets for an acrobatics show at a discounted price through the agency. So we did, and she even took us through the Business District to kill time before the show and show us some scenic spots, AND she and the driver waited for us after the show to pick us up. No stress, all fun, and super helpful and convenient. It was the best day we could’ve possibly had, and it’s all thanks to Lucy!!!

Everything was well prepared beforehand and organised. She is also knowledgeable about the history and really gave a lot of good insights. We highly recommend her!

5.00It was a great private tour experience on this trip to both the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. Our tour guide May was the best as she provided so many great details and stories for both locations throughout the day to further the experience. So convenient with all transportation, tickets, and lunch arranged ahead of time, so no waiting in any lines. This was especially key as when we departed the Great Wall after our visit, the entrance was packed with so many people waiting to get in! Highly recommended May and the team for the next trip to Beijing!

5.00We had a great experience with our guide Andy. We had 8 people in our group (5 adults, 3 kids), and Andy did a great job of balancing structure and information with flexibility and freedom. We prioritized the most important aspects for our family, and everyone (including my kids and niece) learned quite a bit while also having fun. A comment on crowds: this was my second time to the Great Wall. We went once in February when it was very cold, but also zero crowds. This time in April, which was a beautiful weather day, was much busier but still manageable. We had some waiting time, but once we were on the wall, it did not seem that crowded. We waited about an hour for the toboggan ride down. We also chose a later start time, so we knew it would be more crowded…but I was pleasantly surprised there were not MORE crowds. Overall, it was a great experience. I also want to make a comment on communication prior to the tour. I reached out via the Viator app several times to ask some clarifying questions for our private tour, and also tried messaging on social media, but did not receive a response. I had to call Viator directly and involve them to get the company to respond to me. Once they did respond it was fine, just a bit slow to start. It was not a big enough deal to reduce my rating, and our actual tour was great, but sharing my experience for others to be aware of. Side note: We left a watch on the bus, and the driver was able to find it and return it to our hotel the next day. Great service that went “above and beyond”. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour to others and I would work with this company again.

5.00Sophie was full of history and detailed information on the history of Beijing, the dynasties, and the Great Wall of China. She has a very kind and sunny personality, and couldn't have been more helpful on our day with her. The driver should get a mention also for being great! I would highly recommend this tour, it's a great way to see 2 of the most important sites in Beijing.

5.00Mia was an exceptional guide. Her English was perfect and her passion about her country and it's history was informative and moving. We are a cultural mix of 4 retired people so we choose the privite experience . From the moment we met Mia we knew this was the right choice. She was on time for our pick up. As it was late to get to the wall, we changed the itinerary during our drive and went to hike the wall at 2pm rather than 10 am. This worked out perfectly as there were little wait times and not too many tourists at 2 pm. Although lunch was included in the tour package we decided to skip it and were treated to additional site seeing. We not only had a great time with a well prepared guide, we all felt that we made a new friend. We sincerely thank Mia and Trip Advisor for this wonderful day that we will remember forever!!
