In this tour we will dive deep into the life, art and inspiration of Vincent. You will learn why and how Van Gogh started taking up the brush at 27. Discover the importance of his beloved brother Theo in his life, and gain understanding about his relationships and his family. Van Gogh was tormented by his mental difficulties, learn how this shows, next to his genius and his temper, in his masterpieces such as ‘The Potato Eaters’, ‘The Sun Flowers’, ‘The Yellow House’ and ‘The Almond Blossom’. You will get a better understanding about the different artistic periods, for example his ‘dark period’ in Brabant, his experimental period in Paris, and his turbulent time with Gauguin in the yellow house in Arles. Vincent takes his own life at 37, his art dealer brother Theo dies a few months later. So who is the person who makes Vincent famous? Behind every success story of a man stands a great woman..

Whether you are someone who always looks forward to museums on your travels or someone who begrudgingly visits while checking off your to-do list, this tour is for you. The Van Gogh Museum was designed to tell visitors a story… his story. Stan, my tour guide, expertly intertwined the human interest story of Van Gogh with Van Gogh’s notable works of art. Clearly with a passion for art, Stan not only provided the basic information about Van Gogh and his work, he made it fun and provided insight well beyond the art displayed on the walls. This was one of my favorite activities in Amsterdam. Book it. You won’t be disappointed.

Fannie was amazing! She was able to paint the perfect picture (no pun intended), and explain the history at each painting. Highly recommend this tour it was exactly what we wanted. 10/10 !!!

The guide was very good and we are glad we did it. We were in a small group which made it better. It is a very nice but very BIG museum, looking at everything would have taken a week!
