In this tour we will dive deep into the life, art and inspiration of Vincent. You will learn why and how Van Gogh started taking up the brush at 27. Discover the importance of his beloved brother Theo in his life, and gain understanding about his relationships and his family. Van Gogh was tormented by his mental difficulties, learn how this shows, next to his genius and his temper, in his masterpieces such as ‘The Potato Eaters’, ‘The Sun Flowers’, ‘The Yellow House’ and ‘The Almond Blossom’. You will get a better understanding about the different artistic periods, for example his ‘dark period’ in Brabant, his experimental period in Paris, and his turbulent time with Gauguin in the yellow house in Arles. Vincent takes his own life at 37, his art dealer brother Theo dies a few months later. So who is the person who makes Vincent famous? Behind every success story of a man stands a great woman..

Our experience at the van Gogh Museum was greatly enhanced by our guide Florentina’s informative and very well organized tour. Without her, we would have been viewing the beautiful art, but would not have appreciated its origins, development and context. We got so much more out of the museum with the guide then we would have on our own and with a book. Highly recommend.

The tour was excellent due to our great guide Lisa! She was so knowledgable and effortlessly took us through the life of Van gogh as she took us to each painting. Her knowledge was amazing as well as her openness to discussion on the art. One of the best museum tours we have done in years (and we have done a lot!!!!)

Stan was our tour guide. We were a little concerned with how young he was, but within a few minutes, we realized we had the perfect tour guide. He works as a museum curator, and had a deep knowledge both of Van Gough, but the various influences on his works over time. He interacted extremely well with my wife, who had some knowledge of Van Gough's works going in to the tour. He really helped expand her understanding of his techniques, and the stages of his life.

Celine was amazing take us through the Van Gogh museum. She was very knowledgeable and well spoken. I was with my wife and four teenagers and she kept up engaged and really brought the life and story of Van Gogh and his art to life. Highly recommend. Thanks Celine!

This is a worthwhile tour. We opted for the semi-private tour and went later in the day. The crowds were not bad at the end of the day. Our tour guide Liz was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, accommodating, and really pleasant.

The tour was amazing. Liz was our tour guide. My 80 year old dad said the tour was magnificent. I highly recommend this tour. Liz took us through the life of Van Gogh through his art in chronicle order. We were told details of about 22 works of art. Even my newly adult daughter enjoyed the tour. It's best for anyone visiting Amsterdam without young kids. We used the elevator since we were with my elderly dad and that worked out perfect for us. Liz kept us engaged by asking us questions during the tour. After this tour I have a new perspective on painting and art. We took a lot of pictures and even though it was crowded everything went very smooth. The tour was an hour and a half and that was just the right amount of time and not too long. The experience was well worth the money. It proved to be a valuable experience. I would have taken this tour a long time ago if I had known about it. The pacing was just right Liz was patient as she gave the tour.

Our guide Lucien was incredibly knowledgeable and communicated the artist’s history, techniques, and emotional journey with clarity and enthusiasm.
