The Ancient Agora formed the center of commercial life in Ancient Athens. As the main marketplace it was where people gathered, as well as the site where western democracy and many areas of Philosophy were developed. The Agora was the heart of ancient Athens' democracy, where citizens participated directly in government and principles like meritocracy and equality before the law were established during the 5th century BCE.
Close above sits the Acropolis, the pinnacle of classical Greece with its Parthenon and Erechtheion and other Temples forming the most sacred center of worship.

Our Private tour takes 3-Hours which is roughly split into 80 Minutes at the Acropolis and associated Temples, Theaters and buildings, and 80 Minutes at the Ancient Agora. MEETING OUR GUIDE. Your guide will be waiting at the 'Acropoli' Metro Station at street level which is located at 7 Makrygianni Street, and close to the Acropolis Museum Our meeting spot provides an ideal perspective from which to view the surrounding wall of the Acropolis built by the earlier Mycenean Civilization and to provide you with an introduction to the History of the Acropolis, its importance and role in the life of ancient Greece, and an overview of the temples & amazing monuments you are about to see.

Usually, you will continue first with a visit to the Acropolis lasting approximately 80 minutes during which time you will see all of the Temples, Theaters, and associated buildings such as the monumental gateway (Propylaea), Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheum, and of course the Parthenon.

5.00What a wonderfully paced and entertaining morning we just spent with our tour guide Mandio. We got the early start before the Acropolis got too hot and crowded and enjoyed our tour there before wandering down to the ancient agora to learn more about the golden age of Athens. We finished up the tour with a quick drink and a chat with Mandio before heading off through Plaka to see the changing of the guard at Syntagma square.

5.00What an enjoyable and entertaining experience. Manto is an engaging and knowledgeable guide. Because she was with us, we spent more time looking and taking in the sights than we would have done with a regular audio guide. We could ask questions whenever we wanted and the whole thing just became more interactive and memorable for all of us; even our teenage son. What a great way to spend a morning in Athens.

Our guide, “Shorty”, was witty and entertaining as she explained the past and its far reaching impacts to our world. Brilliant, a must do!

5.00Our tour guide, Vicky, was incredible! So worth the money to have someone explain the history and point out details you would never see on your own. We covered a lot of ground in our morning with her and are looking forward to returning for even more! Kids loved the tour as well as Vicky kept it interesting for all and was happy to answer their questions and keep them engaged. So worth it!!!
