Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat is a temple complex at Angkor, Cambodia, built for the king Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious center since its foundation – first Hindu, dedicated to the god Vishnu, then Buddhist. It is the world's largest religious building. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat and an outer wall 3.6 kilometers (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the center of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs and for the numerous guardian spirits adorning its walls.

A day tour at Angkor Wat is really worth it. Our tour guide Phearom is very well versed about the history of their country and of course the temples. You really cannot finish everything in just one day but for somebody who have a very short stay, this one day tour will satisfy your curiosity about their country and their culture.

Told us everything from the history of Cambodia to angkor wat and more. Couldn't fault the guys knowledge. Everything was perfect. Took us away from people to really explain in depth. Took us to a really nice Cambodian restaurant after which I couldn't fault again and was cheap too. 5*

Had such an amazing day exploring the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. Although it was super hot, we were provided with cold water throughout the day and an air conned van. I definitely reccomend getting a knowledgeable and good English speaking tour guide like Mr. Chet, as it just makes the experience more smooth and authentic and you get to learn soo much more about Cambodia’s history.
