Shirley Heights

Perched high above English Harbor, the view from Shirley Heights is simply amazing. If offers a breathtaking view of the yachts moored in the harbor below. Named after Governor Thomas Shirley who fortified the harbor in 1781. On a clear day, neighboring islands can be seen from this vantage point.

Nelson's Dockyard

Nelsons Dockyard, named after Admiral Horatio Nelson, a British naval officer who lived in this Royal Navy Dockyard between 1784 to 1787. Fully restored to its original splendor, the 18th /19th Century buildings of the Dockyard is home to any modern amenities. Trained tour guides on hand to enlighten you on the history of the Dockyard

We were picked up at our resort and shown the island. The history, the people, and the scenery was exactly what we wanted and Vernon James did just that.

Our guide gave us a wonderful tour of everything you could possibly want to see on the island. Antigua is not our favorite island (no offense to the wonderful guide, we just thought there wasn’t a whole lot to see on this island.)

Tour was absolutely fantastic - would 100% recommend, especially if you only have one day on the island like we did. Michael, our guide, was very knowledgeable and gave us so much information about the island as we were driving round.

Amazing one on one tour with Riley. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the island and culture and provided a safe and informative trip. Nearly four hours of seeing the sites and hearing stories of Antigua.

Had a lovely time with Michael who shared history and culture of the island. He was funny and knowledgeable. Lovely morning visiting devils bridge, Nelson’s Dockyard- would have liked more time here to wander and explore and then Shirley Heights.
Michael is an outstanding driver!

We booked for this tour as couple and 4 other people joined us. The tour itself was good and Vernon did his best to ensure we saw everything on the itinerary. he was very informative and friendly. We had no problem with him, or what he offered us. The down side was that the company sent a car fit for 4 adult passengers to pick up 6 people. We had the back-back seat which had no footwell and no leg room for 3 hours driving. Trying to get in and out of the car was a chore. Another couple offered to swap half way but they were taller than us so would have been worse off. Next time I will just say no, and ask for a refund.

We had an amazing tour of Antigua with Cyril. He was very knowledgeable about the history and life in Antigua with funny anecdotes. Devil's Bridge, Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights are gorgeous . And for us avid cricket fans, Cyril showed us the home where Sir Viv Richards grew up.

This is a great private tour which offers a chance to see Antigua and learn its history. My guide, Michael, showed up early and as I was ready to go we set off. We were able to beat the cruise ship crowds everywhere we went, making it a much more pleasant tour as I could take my time and learn as much as possible. This tour doesn’t involve a lot of walking, so this would be perfect for those wanting to set their own pace and not feel rushed.
