Today we visit the famous Sleeping Indian Girl. From certain viewpoints, the outline of the mountain resembles a girl lying on her back gazing at the skies. According to legend, an Indian princess wandered the mountains and died in disgrace after her lover committed suicide. The realism of the outline is enhanced by the fact that the ‘face’ and ‘neck’ have been cleared for grazing while her ‘hair’ remains forested and it is in this area we hike to discover a group of waterfalls and nature.

During the afternoon we visit the famous farmers and handcrafted market for lunch.

This is a short but hard hike over treacherous terrain. From the entrance where a small fee is paid, the hike is only a little over a mile. But the ascent is 1400 ' and the path is steep, and consists mostly of rocks and tree roots. I fell a couple of times and I had a pole. The all trails electronic map shows that it is possible to continue on after reaching the summit to do a loop back to the main trail. After proceeding just a few hundred yards, I turned around because the trail was too rocky and steep.

Awesome town with many quaint restaurants and fun things to do. Numerous hostels, hotels and AbnB. Temperature is mild and a relief from the heat of Panamà City. Residents are very friendly and helpful.
