Enjoy a fun day at Lake Rahajärvi, just ten minutes north of Ivalo village, where you'll learn the basics of traditional winter fishing and indulge in a delicious meal!

Our expert guides will teach you authentic Lappish ice fishing techniques, which include:

• Ice Drilling (“kairaaminen”)

• Traditional Ice Fishing (“pilkkiminen”)

• Under-Ice Net Fishing (“juomustus”)

• Fish Preparation Demonstration

• Making Delicious Fish Soup

After reeling in our catch, we'll gather around a crackling fire in a traditional Lappish Kota and prepare the freshest fish you've ever tasted. You'll learn traditional fish cooking methods, with all the necessary equipment provided by Xwander.

This experience is perfect for friends, couples and families. Kids can enjoy activities like tobogganing and kick sledding, ensuring everyone has a memorable experience.

Arrive at Xwander Nordic by 9:45 AM (transfer options available). The trip lasts about 5 hours, with a return between 3:00–4:00 PM. We’ll gear you up with overalls and boots for the Arctic adventure. Start with ice fishing, drilling through thick ice to learn traditional techniques. Check submerged nets to discover local fish species like White Fish, Pike, Perch, or Burbot. Prepare the catch while learning about Arctic marine life, then cook and enjoy a warm fish soup in a Lappish Tipi Tent. Optional add-ons: tent sauna or ice swimming for an unforgettable finish!

Very good time sharing. Fishing, lunch, everything was perfect. Explanations , information about the area, lifestyle. And of course, a breathtaking landscape, frozen lake, forest and sunshine as bonuses. Thank you to our guide Julien for a beautiful day.

The best activity we did in Finland. They have the best guides, they know how to fish, cook, sing, navigate, tow a sled with a snowmobile... they know everything!!

We had a wonderful experience with our guide, Sonja. The organisation was really good and we have been picked up at our accomodation. On the lake, we had the chance to experience the beautiful lappish nature with all its facets. To end this beautiful morning, we had a fresh fish soup with a desert cooked over opne fire which was delicious! We would definitly do this again!

Incredible trip to Lapland with 2 fantastic guides, Sonja and Jennifer. Ivalo Inari, a magical region. If you need to travel to Lapland Feel free to ask these 2 guides. Listening, patient and very good about Sami culture. Thank you very much.

We did two activities in Inari and both were perfect! The first one was the ice fishing experience with our guide Juhanni, and the second one was Inari Day with Ossi. Both Juhanni and Ossi are remarkable, great cook and are super super informative and helpful. I still remember the amazing fish soup and Juhanni made and reindeer stew that Ossi made for us. We experienced some issue during our ice fishing day (the net was stuck in the ice and we couldn't pull it to get the fish out), but Juhanni tried his best and finally after some trial and error, we managed to get 3 fishes from the broken net!

I stayed 1 week on ivalo, with xwander agency. They organize my program according to the activities I wanted to do, the activities are just huge, I do not regret the activities and the agency I recommend 1000%, the guides are great at the little care, always present if needed. The studio where I stayed is just on top, nothing to say, a supermarket right across the street. Beautiful landscapes, silk solo activities in small groups, for more fun and exchange.
