Wondering Reindeer is Sami reindeer experience company ho is offering guests authentic Sami adventures.
We offer guests a small group tour (16pers) around Kvaløya island with majestic mountains and arctic fjords. During the trip around the island, guests will join Sami reindeer herder and his reindeers which are living in wildness close to Sommarøy, guests will enjoy reindeer herder calls for his reindeers who are living in free natural habitat.
When the herd is gathered, there will be an opportunity to feed the animals by hand. Guests will also be gathering in traditional Sami lavvo (Sami tent) around open bonfire to enjoy Joik (traditional Sami songs) and learn more about Sami traditions.
During the roundtrip we will visit Sommarøy Arctic Hotel for lunch/meal made of local ingredients. Sommrøy is a fantastic place and a group of islands in the open sea 1,5 hours driving from Tromsø. Guests will have time to explore Sommrøy by walking around before we leave the fishing community.

There will be lunch/dinner and plenty of coffee, tea, warm chocolate and biscuits/snacks. If you prefer alcoholic drinks like vin or beer you need to pay separat for this in restaurant
Choose one dish each from the restaurant menu. If restaurant serves large lunch buffet, that will be served instead of food from menu. There are options like vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free.

5.00Booked this activity specifically because it included several stops on the way to the reindeer to take in the beautiful Norwegian landscapes. When clear, the fjords and snowy mountains make for breathtaking scenery. It was a nice bonus to what was already a great excursion. The reindeer were so friendly - feeding them as the snow fell was such a magical experience. Getting to learn about the Sami people, history, and tradition was also enlightening and important. AYCE lunch buffet was terrific. Highly recommend!

5.00Such a wonderful local tour. Ole was a fantastic tour guide and educated us about the Sami culture and shared folklore about the ancient Norwegian life. We did a fabulous tour of the Fjords, reindeer feeding with Sarah and having hot drinks in a local tent. He also took us to a lovely place for lunch and made some great friends whilst on it. The weather was perfect and Ole’s driving skills were by far safe and secure. Would definitely recommend it .

5.00Wonderful experience. Our guide was a very kind authentic Sami and took us through all the different aspects of his culture while stopping multiple times on the road to enjoy the fiords. Feeding the reindeers was very special and also helped me understand their importance in the Nordic countries. The entire tour is well organized, the group is small, and transportation and lunch were good. You end your day with a lot of appreciation for the Sami people.
