My guests have their very own personal trilingual Bahamian island guide for the day with just themselves and myself to enjoy all of the
sites of interest in both Freeport and Lucaya.
They are afforded a tour of all of the major attractions of Freeport and Lucaya as well as participating in their private Bahamian cooking class. They will learn how to make our most popular native dish of conch fritters and eat what they have cooked. This is a great fun activity for the entire family. Family time always has cooking and eating in the mix and this Bahamian Conch Fritter Cooking Exp. provides just the right combination of both.
After having finished our cooking exp. we will then enjoy a beautiful private beach for as long as time remaining permits before we return to the ship or your hotel. You will be able to swim, walk the beach, collect shells, sunbathe or simply enjoy a tropical cocktail on a magnificent beach on Grand Bahama.

Firstly, we will tour all of the sites of Freeport, including the Open Air Farmer's Market and the Bahamian Brewery where we make seven different types of beer and two types of Radlers. We visit the local settlements to sample our local baked goodies and where you can find other unique arts and crafts. Our lunch will be the Bahamian cooking experience where you will learn all about how we make this favorite national dish and try your hand at dropping a few fritters yourselves. Conch fritters are the most popular native dish in the entire Bahamas!!! After our Bahamian Conch Fritter Experience we will tour the Port Lucaya Marketplace where you have the opportunity to visit the Bahamas Maritime Museum(optional) and do more shopping and sampling of other Bahamian made goodies especially our local flavors of chocolates. Before returning to the ship or your hotel, we do have beach time where you can try any of our tropical drinks such as a Bahama Mama while enjoying our crystal clear turquoise waters on a magnificent beach.

4.00Really great experience! It felt like a V.I.P experience with it only being our group. Hida even did an extra stop for us since someone in our group was looking for a particular souvenir, which we appreciated! We thought it was going to be an actual cooking class with the conch fritters, but it's just watching a local cook the conch fritters and she'll explain how to do it. It's a long full day of the beach, eating, drinking (at a brewery), and checking out all the local spots. Definitely recommend!

5.00My husband & I had a wonderful time!!! Hida was an excellent guide, she was knowledgeable of the island, & very personable!! We learned many interesting things, from landscaping, different sections & neighborhoods, & of course delicious food. AND the Beautiful blue water was the star!!!

5.00Overall this was a great experience! A couple of hiccups, but certain circumstances led to them. Hida is a great guide with a wealth of knowledge of her island. I booked this excursion because it was "Personalized and Unique". Not a ship excursion, or one that we were pushed into once arriving at the dock. This was prearranged and it was "only" my husband and myself. When you do an excursion like this you can gain much more information and even be able to work with Hida to adjust the day to things "you" really want to do and not just settle for the exact times and places preassigned by other excursion companies. Hida will make you feel very comfortable and runs her licensed tour company as a exclusive independent excursion that caters to her bookings. Unfortunately, Margaritaville's 3 night weekend cruise, puts you in port on a Sunday. BAD BAD schedule on the Cruise Companies part. Leaving out of West Palm on a Friday and having Saturday as a sea day and Sunday is port day is not well thought out. Sunday in Grand Bahama is their religious day and everything is closed and the sidewalks are rolled up. If the schedule was switched between Saturday and Sunday the tourists would be able to experience so much more the island has to offer. Also the change would bring more revenue to the island. With that being said, a few places we did visit included the Lighthouse, a new Art Exhibit of local artists, Dorsets Conch experience on the beach and a stop at a local restaurant for some conch fritters. We enjoyed the places we did see, but we were disappointed in the things we missed out on. I HAVE REBOOKED with Hida for a repeat of the same weekend cruise, cruising this time with a friend, and we will be adjusting the excursion sites and schedule to be even more personal to our wants and needs. I'm looking forward to ironing out the details with Hida soon and will repost again after the second time around. AGAIN, IF YOU WANT TO BE WITH ONLY YOUR PARTY AND CHOOSE YOUR DAY- BOOK HIDA! **This is not a paid advertisement! lol

5.00Hida was a fantastic host for a wonderful day where she showed us the Garden of the Groves (she was so knowledgeable about the history of this location!), several local spots for shopping and local food purchases such as the bakery (recommend the Coconut Tart and their fresh bread rolls!), local farmers market, the brewery, and the market where we learned from Brenda how to make our own conch fritters! The day ended at a beautiful beach with great food. I highly recommend this tour as the host is a local, knew SOOOO much history about the Bahamas and tailors your experience to you and your family/frienda. We loved it!
Great experience learning the culture and tasting amazing fresh food.

5.00Hida. Thank you very much for the best day touring the Island. Word of advise. Book Hida but if you have a rental car book her tour in the first day or two of arriving to the Island. That will end up being the best choice as you then have the freedom of exploring what she shows you for the rest of the trip. Wonderful lady, thanks again, Heather and Mike

5.00My husband and I visited Freeport Bahamas for the first time this past January for Our 29th Wedding Anniversary. We wanted to see as much as we could in 1 days so that we could spend the rest of our time enjoying the resort. I tried booking with Viator tours and what a nightmare that was but thankfully I was able to get my money back. I then found Hida online and OMG she was a Godsent…Before arriving we booked a day trip with Hida personally… We had full day filled with so much fun, it was definitely worth every penny. Hida took us to the Rum Distillery, the marketplace where we learnt how to make conch fritters and took us souvenir shopping. She was so patient with us all day. We ended our day on a beautiful beach where we enjoyed Dante’s conch experience. Dante was super kool and had great music, the conch salad was absolutely delicious. We happen to love spicy foods and Dante was so accommodating and made the best spicy conch salad we’ve ever had. Our day with Hida was exactly what we needed, she made us so comfortable and we had such a wonderful time. Thank you soooo much Hida we will definitely be back with the kids so I hope you’re ready because you will always be our go to person in Freeport. We travel at least 2 times per year but will definitely remember our best tour guide ever. Thank you sooooo much Hida, sorry it took me so long to post this but life took over after we returned to reality but we will never forget you 💕

5.00The service was amazing! Hida was so insightful, informative, patient, and loving. She included all of our wants and needs into the tour. She also gave us a feeling of belonging and safety. Each stop took as long as we wanted it too and we were able to add or subtract events during the trip. I would give her the highest rating possible! Excellent trip! She was amazing

5.00Wonderful food, history and wildlife. The beaches are beautiful! It’s good to do this trip early on your vacation so Hida can educate you on where to go and what to see. :)

5.00Excellent narration and guiding bu Hida, highly recommended. Learned how to pull the meat from the conch.Thw whole experience and the fact that you get to know a lot of Freeport and the background. Possibly more recommended in March or April instead of January.
