The tour starts from your hotel, a chance to spend a delightful day out of Rome to visit Umbria, one of the most picturesque regions of Italy rich in vineyards, olive trees and the famous hilltop villages. One of the most famous is Assisi, an UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mystic town of Saint Francis, surrounded by its ancient walls, was built on the green slopes of Mount Subasio and with its colorful houses of stone, narrow streets, flowering balconies and noble palaces provide beautiful views for memorable pictures (do not forget your camera). An interesting visit to St. Francis Basilica, with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue, and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Time for lunch in a typical restaurant (optional) and then the tour continues to Orvieto, where you can admire a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with a glistening façade of stained glass, mosaics and sculptures. Soak up Orvieto’s charm and explore the city center and then Back to Rome.

Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli
An interesting visit to St. Francis Basilica with his early Renaissance master-pieces by Giotto and Cimabue and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli. Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels , After the death of Saint Francis in 1226, the friars built several small huts around the Porziuncola. In 1230, a refectory and some adjacent buildings were added. In the course of time, little porticoes and accommodations for the friars were added around the Porziuncola. Some foundations of these were discovered during excavations under the floor of the present basilica between 1967 and 1969. As vast numbers of pilgrims came flocking to Assisi to receive the "Pardon of Assisi" the small space of the Porziuncola became completely inadequate to house all these pilgrims. The necessity grew to build a church incorporating the Porziuncola. The buildings around the shrine were taken down by order of Pope Pius V (1566-1572), except the Chapel of the Transito, the cell in which St. Francis had died. Construction of the basilica started on 25 March 1569.

5.00Just spectacular, the warmth and excellent service of Isabel and her partner have been wonderful, we went with a family with a minor but they are really empathetic to the young children and made our experience unforgettable, I certainly highly recommend them and hope at some other time to coincide with them.

Even though the weather was quite rainy, my family and I enjoyed a fantastic trip, visiting the “Green 💚 Heart of Italy 🇮🇹 and Land of the Saints (Francis, Clare & Carlo Acutis), making our pilgrimage such a memorable and holy one. We appreciated their friendly, kind service, great lunch recommendation, and getting us safely to and from these sites, all while learning about this remarkable region. Well done! Buonissima!
An unusual experience in Assisi is Orvieto

5.00Our trip was very good the driver Roberto and our guide Stayce during the trip came to pick us up at the hotel, very polite. We visited the Porciúncula of San Francisco with the guide Stayce who talked about the history of the place. In Assisi in the upper part the guide was Sandra, also very attentive spoke about the history of St. Francis took us to know the city, the Church where is the body of St. Carlo Acutis and in the Basilica of St. Francis, Sandra is very friendly, asks and knows the history well. After we went to Orvieto very pretty little town with Stayce and Roberto, Stayce guided us through Orvieto told the whole story took us to the Cathedral of Orvieto (Duomo), which keeps the Corporal of the Miracle of Bolsena and the Church of St. Angel. The trip back was excellent, we were left at the hotel. The driver Roberto, the guide in Assisi Sandra and the guide throughout the entire route to Stayce are very qualified, friendly and sought-after professionals. I recommend, note 10!

2.00Regarding the guide who accompanied us in Assisi, it was all great! Begonia was very friendly and knows a lot about the lives of those who lived there, it was profitable. Regarding the guide who accompanied us in the car, I did not know much about the cities we passed, besides being a little complicated by the fact of being agnostic and not knowing almost anything about the religious tour. All done very quickly and without attention.

5.00Excellent tour. Antoinette our guide was remarkable. Knowledgeable, warm and accommodating. We were like family by the end of the day. Our driver Pietro was also knowledgeable and courteous. In Assisi , our guide Marco was amazing and passionate about his knowledge of Assisi

5.00Antoinette was the best guide ever. Smart , warm , kind and knowledgeable. Our driver Pietro was courteous, opened and closed doors for us and was extended knowledge and safety first !! In Assisi we had Marco, who was just as great as Antionette !! We felt as if we knew all of them for years. Like family If it were possible I’d give them 10 stars Must do tour with this group of wonderful people

5.00A fabulous tour to Orvieto and Assisi with our tour guide Teresa and driver Luigi. Excellent driving to and from Assisi, Luigi was professional, polite and friendly. Teresa was fantastic with her knowledge of the religious and historical sites. She was everything you want in a guide; kind, efficient, fun and welcoming to questions and comments and any concerns. Marco was our guide in Assisi; he was a font of information and also polite, kind and so knowledgeable! He too welcomed questions and comments. Thank you to all of them for making our day memorable. Would use Welcome Italy when visiting again.

5.00This private tour to Assisi and Orvieto was one of the most beautiful tours of our entire trip. Assisi is truly extraordinary—rich in history, spirituality, and charm. We were able to visit everything, and each stop felt meaningful and well paced. Orvieto was equally amazing, with breathtaking architecture and an outstanding panoramic view of the landscape that is simply unforgettable. The food experience in Assisi was also a highlight—trying the wild boar was exquisite and highly recommended. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely caring, which made the entire day even more enjoyable and relaxed. A nice bonus is that you don’t need to worry about breakfast. After picking us up from the hotel, they made a quick stop so we could enjoy a pleasant breakfast before continuing the journey. Overall, this tour is absolutely worth it and highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience some of the most beautiful and authentic places in Italy.
