Marco was the best guide and he truly made us feel like family!!! From taking our pictures to encouraging us to speak Spanish and joking about el chupacabra or educating us about Inca culture - he made our experience wonderful! While this trek is more on the challenging side, due to the short period and high altitude gain, all of the staff - from Marco to our cooks and horseman - made sure we were safe and comfortable the entire time. Despite the challenge, the landscape was so rewarding - peaceful campsites near lakes, rolling green hills dappled with alpaca, and meeting many locals. This was my first experience with overnight trekking, and while I was dubious at first, I will definitely seek out more of these trips - in Peru or elsewhere! Additionally, our chefs should get a Michelin star! I don’t think I eat that well at home. Every meal was at least 3 courses plus an afternoon tea time to encompass all the flavors the Andes had to offer. Overall, the cost was amazing for an all inclusive trek. Just make sure to have extra currency to tip your team for their time and work!!!

Our trip with Marco was amazing! He made us laugh a lot and showed us some authentic mountain traditions he has! He never rushed us and helped us take some great pictures. Ausangate was beautiful especially with fresh snow over night. The food cooked by our chef rivaled actual resturants. 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking for a challenging 3 day hike in the Andes.

Wow, wow, wow. This was one of the best, if not THE best, treks of my life. First off, the service from Nestor (my guide), Avelino (the muleteer/horseman), and Heber (the mountain chef) were phenomenal. They worked so hard every single day to provide an amazing experience - planning each day's route, setting up and tearing down campsites, cooking - all while doing the trek themselves. Nestor was an amazing guide who tailored the hike around the group (it was just myself and another traveler). We were both relatively faster hikers, so Nestor added in some non-traditional detours that added to the experience. Compliments to Heber - he and Avelino cooked an incredible meal, every single meal, not to mention nutritious! If you're worried about being too cold at night, don't be. While the temperature does drop at night, I was quite warm in the sleeping bag, fleece liner, and additional blanket they provide. The trek itself was breath-taking. I don't even know how to describe each day. Foggy mornings giving way to bright clear days, passing by alpine lakes, mountain passes at 4800 meters+, and of course, Rainbow Mountain and Red Valley views. Thanks for everything, Nestor, Heber, and Avelino. I will be back!

My friend Clarisse and I had the chance to live an unforgettable adventure on the Ausangate trek — 3 days and 2 nights in the heart of the Andes, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. 🌄❄️🌧️☀️ A huge thank you to our guide Marco, who quickly became like a brother to us. His kindness, deep knowledge, and constant support made all the difference. We’re also incredibly grateful to Juan Carlos, our amazing cook, who kept us warm and well-fed in the most remote places, and Jesús, our horseman, who showed nothing but strength and warmth throughout the journey. They worked tirelessly and cared for us as if we were part of their own family. Nature gave us everything — snow, sun, rain — and above all, a profound sense of connection and wonder. It was a truly human and spiritual experience that touched us deeply. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Marco, Jesús, and Juan Carlos. We’ll never forget this. 🙏

We had a great time on this tour. We were due to hike the Salkantay trail but due to landslides all hikes were cancelled and this was a great alternative. We hiked rainbow mountain followed by 7 lakes and then a trip to Machu Picchu. It was an awesome few days. Our guide was Fredy Apaza - if you book a tour and get him as your guide you're in for a treat. He is patient and kind when hiking, and I felt like I was in really safe hands. His passion for and knowledge of the Incas and the history and culture of Peru is incredible and I found our time with him really insightful. All in all, I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend.

We went on the 4 day Ausangate with Rainbow Mountain trek. We had an amazing experience. This was my first trek and I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I’ve only ever backpacked for a weekend and at a low altitude. I suppose you could consider me a bit inexperienced, so in my opinion some parts of the trek were a little bit difficult but not impossible. We did a lot of research prior to booking this trek and did our best to prepare ourselves. In the end, this was worth it since we knew how best to handle the altitude while on the trek. Our guide, Henry, was super helpful before, during, and even after the trek. He also made sure to discuss the altitude during the briefing session as well as other important preparation measures such as bringing enough personal medication with us. The company seemed very organized and made the whole experience seamless. I never had to worry about transportation or other logistics since they were all taken care of for us. We were treated very well by the cook, horse man, driver, and our guide. Each person ensured that our needs were met and that we were ok. Each campsite was spectacular. I can’t explain how beautiful the mountains were. Sometimes it didn’t even feel real to be there. This was my first time in the Andes and the sights I saw were the most beautiful I had ever seen in my entire life. There was never a dull moment during the hikes; there was constant beauty all around us. I also LOVED seeing all of the alpacas and llamas. We hoped we would get to see some but didn’t expect to see as many as we did. We were thrilled by this. We also really enjoyed how secluded this trek was. It wasn’t packed and it made enjoying the nature even more pleasant. There were times were it was so silent that you could truly enjoy your surroundings. There was also enough “downtime” once you arrived to each campsite that you could relax, take in the surroundings, and prepare for the next day. Nothing felt rushed, especially the hiking itself. It didn’t feel like we were simply trying to get to our next destination, it felt like we were enjoying the nature. Overall, this was an experience I will never forget. I’m so glad we booked this and I would definitely recommend 4 day Ausangate with Rainbow Mountain trek (with Henry) to others.

Coming from Colorado my partner and I do A LOT of backpacking trips and this experience was nothing short of amazing. I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable the sleeping arrangements were, how DELICIOUS the provided meals were, and how organized the whole trek was. The views were unmatched and our guides, Pabel and Darwin, were incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful with the touches they added for our group. We were a group of 16 for a birthday celebration and they made sure everyone was comfortable and continuously checked in with those in the group who weren’t used to the altitude. My partner and I are going to make plans to do another more challenging trek with our guides because of how wonderful our experience was. If you were on the fence about this, don’t hesitate. BOOK. It was amazing. 15/10 stars 🙌

Pabel and Darwin were our hiking guides, they were extremely professional, full of information, and so friendly. The food was out of this world and the entire team worked so hard to give us the perfect experience. I could go on and on, but if you’re considering this trip, it’s once in a life time and the best backpacking trip I’ve ever been on and I’ve done a lot! You won’t regret it.
