Go beyond the typical tourist shows and step into the authentic sanctuary of Japan's national sport! This interactive sumo experience takes place inside a real, former sumo stable.
1. Authentic Hands-on Experience : Don't just watch a show. Learn the deep culture and rules from an expert guide, then step into the ring! Experience traditional training and actually wrestle with ex-professional sumo wrestlers.

3. Dine with the Wrestlers : After the intense training, reward yourself by sharing a traditional "Chanko Nabe" (hearty hot pot) lunch with the wrestlers. Hear fascinating stories about their strict daily lives and values.
4. Come Empty-Handed : We provide the wrestling clothes! You even get to keep the original T-shirt and a handprint as souvenirs.

The itinerary for this tour includes some locations that are not accessible by a wheelchair or stroller.
Unexpected cancellations from sumo stables can happen a few days to a couple of days before the tour.
Large luggage such as suitcases are not permitted on this tour.
Out of respect for other guests and to ensure the best experience for everyone, the tour will start on time.
You will not be able to join the tour, receive a refund, or reschedule if you are late and miss the group.
Cancellation after the tour start time or no-shows will not be eligible for a refund or date/time change.
We will start the tour on time. If you are more than 5 minutes late without contacting us, it will be considered a cancellation and no refund will be provided.
Please inform us at least one day before the tour if you have any dietary requests or allergies to mention.
Please note that we are unable to guarantee allergy-free or cater to dietary restrictions as the food is prepared in kitchens that do not belong to MagicalTrip. Additionally, there may be instances where substitutions are not possible at certain stops; however, we will make every effort to compensate at different stops throughout the tour.

Summer in Japan is very hot and humid, so we recommend that you bring water and wear a hat to prevent heat stroke.

We will meet at Shin Kawasaki Station. Your guide will share how Sumo wrestlers live in real life and the tradition and history of Sumo. Meet your local guide at the Shin-Kawasaki station and head to the real Sumo stable, which was officially used until 2022. First, your guide will explain the unique lifestyle and customs of the sumo world, followed by a room tour to see the dining room, bath, and practice area, where you can get a glimpse of the lives of sumo wrestlers. Afterwards, you will be seated right in front of the sumo ring to watch a morning sumo practice session. Usually, Sumo morning practice begins around 7:00 a.m. and lasts for three to four hours, and a unique training session has continued since the Samurai era. Guests who wish to participate will have the opportunity to experience these movements with us and see firsthand how rigorous the training is. After the match, we will eat Chanko-Nabe together, a dish that makes a sumo wrestler's body big. We make chicken dumplings, the main ingredient of the chanko-nabe, with the wrestlers, and everyone eats together around a table that was actually used in the sumo room.

5.00Highlight of our trip to Japan. Our guide, Charlie, was excellent - friendly, informative, helpful. My husband and I booked this somewhat on a whim, and I’m so glad we did. After learning some basics about sumo, you have the option to get in the ring, attempt some of the training exercises, and even wrestle with a retired wrestler. You get get a sense of how grueling the training is and just what amazing athletes the wrestlers are. Our former wrestlers, Kai and Ko, were awesome, encouraging and with a great sense of humor. Lunch was also delicious. Highly recommend this activity!

5.00This is tour offered an in depth view into the training, and the lives of sumo wrestlers. You can also get in the ring with them! It was obvious that these folks have put in a lot of work to make this a premiere experience. I highly recommend this experience!

5.00The Magical Trip Sumo experience was so amazing! We had fun learning about sumo history and got to practice and fight them. The food was very good and the sumo wrestlers were very kind and happy to chat with us. Jim was a great tour guide. Highly recommend!
