San Juan la Laguna
San Juan La Laguna is a charming Tz’utujil village on the shores of Lake Atitlan, renowned for its harmony between culture, nature and spirituality. During our visit, we will explore colorful murals that tell stories of the Mayan worldview, and meet women weavers’ cooperatives that use natural dyes extracted from plants or tree bark to make unique textiles with ancient techniques. We will also visit indigenous art workshops, where local painters proudly represent their identity and their connection to nature. San Juan is also home to small artisan chocolate workshops and pure honey producers, where you can taste natural flavors and learn about the role of the Mayan bee in local agriculture. The experience is completed with a visit to the Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist, a place of faith where indigenous and Christian traditions are mixed, reflecting the cultural syncretism of the people.
San Pedro La Laguna
San Pedro La Laguna is one of the most dynamic villages on Lake Atitlan. Located at the foot of the imposing San Pedro volcano, this destination combines the cultural heritage of the Tz’utujil Mayan people with vibrant youth and backpacking life. It is famous for being one of the best places to learn Spanish in Guatemala, thanks to its many schools with local teachers and stunning views of the lake. In addition, its artisan cafes, many with local organic coffee production, offer a perfect environment to relax while enjoying the scenery. In the center of the village, you can tour the colorful local market, where fruits, textiles and traditional products are found. You can also visit the Church of San Pedro Apostol, a colonial gem surrounded by history and devotion.

Our guide was very helpful, kind, and attentive at all times, explaining everything patiently and making sure we enjoyed every part of the tour. Although English is not his first language, his effort and dedication made it easy for us to understand the tour perfectly. We speak a little Spanish, which allowed us to have excellent communication and a great connection. In addition, he works hard to improve his English to communicate better with all visitors. It was a great cultural tour, full of details that made us connect with the place. A wonderful experience that we truly enjoyed and 100% recommend!
