Once the former capital of Thailand, also known as the Kingdom of Siam, from 1350 to 1767, Ayutthaya suffered significant destruction at the hands of the Burmese. This tour provided an excellent overview of the ruins and other sights of Ayutthaya. It was a great way to see the city quickly, and the combination of tuk tuk and boat was perfect on a very hot day. Our guide Bung was very knowledgeable and thoughtfully made sure we had plenty to drink and provided a few additional treats we were not expecting. Overall a great value!

The tour of the temples and related areas was very good and our guide was good. I would skip the market area boat ride. Not a single market was on the water, and the open shops were selling souvenirs and food. This can be seen anywhere. Also, my bad, but the trip was an hour and a half ride from our hotel, which was provided in the tour fee, but we should have read the description further and avoided the 3 hour to and from drive.
