If you are within walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants from your accommodation, and will only be going further for the odd sightseeing day then you only need a private car and driver on an ad-hoc basis for day tours.
However, if you will be going further than walking distance for most days I highly recommend hiring a private car and driver for the full length of your stay. Having a driver on call for most if not the whole day and evening will help make your Bali holiday friction-free because you remove the hassle of constantly getting taxis in Bali, which can be a real pain.

5.00Not the holiday we expected—but one we will never forget 💛 After a serious accident at another resort early in our trip, we spent a month in and out of hospital. It was The Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa who stepped in and cared for us with such kindness and compassion—we truly felt like family. Our driver helped my husband get to the hospital and then over to Kuta and Denpasar for medication with such comfortable seats. Forever grateful. Matur suksma pisan 🙏

5.00Doni is amazing. Super responsive, hospitable and professional. He is not pushy and is flexible. Also happens to be the safest/best driver in Bali. He navigated many difficult roads and drives whilst ensuring our comfort. Never questioned my safety with him. Grateful and will only be using his service on any trips to Bali.

5.00We had a wonderful all day tour with Agus. He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, very friendly, and not to mention, just a joy to have along with us. So many things, water temple, Rice, Fields, coffee plantation, monkey sanctuary, and who could forget the waterfall. Highly recommended

5.00Doni was our driver and he took great care of us! He was on time and his car was clean and very comfortable. He was very knowledgeable as well and took us to Ubud and Uluwatu. He also arranged our tickets at Uluwatu. Reasonably priced. Doni is a safe and good driver. Highly recommend him!

5.00Our day began with trip at waterfall then go to many other area around ubud, we choose to use private driver to get more time at the place we visit, dedi was nice driver and guide, his knowledge made the day more beautiful then before, He also bring me to get lunch with very good service and jungle view.
