The Beginner Angler's Course aims to introduce fishing to those interested in trying out fishing or searching for a new hobby. It will be completed within a day on the scenic Lazarus Island, one of Singapore's best-kept secrets. You will learn both the basic theory and practical aspects of fishing during a weekend getaway.
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to use a fishing setup confidently and know how to handle a fish that is caught.

The Beginner Angler's Course aims to introduce fishing to those interested in trying out fishing or searching for a new hobby. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to use a fishing setup confidently and know how to handle a fish that is caught. PRE-COURSE EXPERIENCE: No experience required but we do recommend that you do not have any phobia of standing near the sea. HOW TO BOOK: Please follow these 5 easy steps: Step 1: Book a date for your practical session on the fishing yacht. Step 2: Watch the online tutorials via the link sent to you. Step 3: Tie at least a set of paternoster rig. Step 4: Complete the online quiz. Step 5: Go for your practical session and enjoy your time on the water!

5.00Participated in the Beginner Angler’s Course. My instructor for the day, Franky, was incredibly friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable! Patsy from customer service was very helpful and answered all my queries promptly.

5.00This course is ideal for someone who has never fish before and wants to learn things right from the start, in a systematic way. Raymond and Francis are great instructors. Patient to explain the complicated knots and provide guidance. It was also a very memorable experience to get out of the mainland and breathe in some fresh air on an offshore island. Best part is you are able to use your sg rediscover voucher for this fabulous experience. Highly recommended for family, friends and couples! Oh did I forget to mention, I caught a puffer fish! Was a total surprise to wrap up this fantastic experience in this way.

5.00Fishing seems daunting at first but the instructor Aloysius made everything simple for everyone and easy to understand and I was able to catch around 20 fishes even though I knew absolutely nothing at the start. He didn't just taught us how to fish, he helped us understand fishing at a deeper level as well.

5.00The entire experience there was absolutely thrilling and kept me at the edge of my seat the entire time! The instructions were crystal clear and i thoroughly enjoyed the entire course from start to finish! I recommend anyone who has even the slightest interest to attempt fishing to try this fabulous course out!

5.00It was an extremely informative course despite having some experience previously fishing. I had a lot of fun and learnt about all the various knots for fishing. Aloysius was my instructor and he was very helpful throughout. There is only 1 toilet on the island which is a problem that cant be helped unfortunately. Please do bring more plastic bags for your trash and other items. If you catch a fish that you'd like to keep or cook, your instructor will be able to pack it for you which was a really pleasant surprise. I assumed it was all catch and release.

5.00It was an amazing day out at lazarus island to do fishing. For future guests, remember to bring adequate food and water as there is no food stalls on ths island. You should also bring extra plastic bags for trash as you need to bring back your trash to ths mainland for disposal. I had aloysius as my instructor and he was wonderful. He helped everybody with their knots and was very knowledgeable; identifying fishes without even referring to anything. He was very friendly and approachable which made the course that much more enjoyable. Highly recommended to go for this course and learn about fishing from the academy.
