You'll gain a wealth of knowledge from someone who was born and reared and still lives in the community where the tour takes place, 17 years of experience giving the tours. I am 1 of 5 tour guides in the whole of Belfast that can say this. You will experience both sides of the community where the conflict took place, an unbiased tour and lots of colorful murals that depict the struggles along the way, where you can sign the famous peace wall and you'll have plenty of photo opportunities. This tour is a great experience for the whole family and will take you back in time right up to the present day. Tour is 90 minutes of history, learning and plenty of "craic" (laughter) along the way.

When you are picked up by your Belfast Taxi Tour Guide they will bring you onto the famous Belfast Falls Road which is the Catholic side of the community, and the famous Belfast Shankill Road which is the Protestant side of the community. Your Taxi Tour guide will explain the conflict in detail from start to finish while driving you through both of these communities. They will also stop the taxi at certain murals for you to take photographs and see it firsthand. Along the way your tour guide will stop at the famous Belfast Peace Wall, and you will get the opportunity to write your name/ your message on the wall. All our Belfast Taxi Tours are around 90 minutes long. From pick up to drop off. We can arrange to pick you up from your location of choice, or at our chosen destination - Leonardo Hotel, Great Victoria Street, Belfast, BT1 6DY.

Slow Start - Great Finish! Excellent Tour!

5.00Our first impression was a bit rough (not a black cab but a grey van that could have been a bit cleaner. Upon checking, the add did not say "Black Cab"...our mistake). We were offered local candy and bottles of water - nice gesture. As the tour went on, our guide's knowledge became very clear. And the more we asked questions, the more we were amazed by his understanding of history and people. He was very patient to explain the sometimes complex history. He opened by saying, "There are no bad questions," and his responses to our several "I don't get it" queries proved him true to his word. The guide was friendly and animated throughout. In the end left us stunned in our final grasp of not just the "The Troubles," but the contextual history that led up to and has followed from them. It felt like a true, insider's story. It was worth every penny. Our guide was great for suggesting and helping us take pictures as well. Highly recommended.

5.00This experience was above all expectation. I thought I knew the subject matter pretty well but there were many missing parts which Caolan brought to life with humor compassion and insight. He is certainly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter, and one of very few guides who genuinely grew up during the troubles and right in the heart of a community affected directly and significantly. This tour is highly recommended and especially so if you do a bit of pre reading. I hope the people of Ireland find true peace in time.

5.00Great tour - having grown up amidst the ‘mayhem’ Diarmaid is very knowledgable, speaking from his own personal experiences he offers an open and honest view of this complicated subject. The tour was both interesting and informative without being overwhelming, we visited key areas and Diarmaid pointed out significant places/things along the way with explanation, he was both friendly and personable and happy to answer questions. Would very much recommend. Bonus points that Diarmaid accepts solo travellers, without charging double - which a lot of other tour operators do.
This tour is a must in Belfast!

5.00This tour is a must in Belfast. Dairmaid, the driver and guide, grew up and still lives in a community that is part of the tour. He is a student of the history that is what this tour is all about. He has a lot of information that is professionally presented in a respectful and unbiased way. Dairmaid also has an ipad with images from the past that give a much broader understanding of what he was speaking about. I learned a lot from this tour, about history, about Belfast past and present and about life today in the communities we visited. I highly recommend this tour, it was excellent. A solid 6 out of 5.
