Join us for an unforgettable trip to Big Almaty Lake — a “must-see” in Almaty.

Car option: Comfortable transfer from your hotel, 60 minutes at the lake, then return. Ideal if you want to enjoy the views without a challenging climb.

Hiking option (for fit and experienced hikers): 14 km mountain trail to 2,511 m with breathtaking views, including a traditional Kazakh Altybakan swing, then descent via the Moon Valley. Takes 2–3 hours up, 2 hours at the lake, and the same route back. Hiking boots required; trekking poles and raincoats provided.

Note:

- Passport required (border zone).

- Route may vary depending on weather.

- October is a rainy month, check the forecast, we don't guarantee a clear view of the lake.

- From November to May, the lake is frozen.

the lake is stunning. the water is turquoise. its very serene and feels unreal. choosing the car all the way to the lake was the best idea bec we arrived earlier than everybody else who are walking. they said walking will take 6 hours round trip. the road is steep and narrow. you should be physically fit. biking seems a little scary to do bec of sharp curves. highly recommended to take the car instead. kudos to Mr. Yerkin, he's very kind and also gave us drone shots and free tea.

It was an enjoyable hike with Adam who was very friendly and helpful. The scenery was beautiful and the weather in the mountains was windy and cold. While the hike was tiring at times, I certainly have no regrets choosing this hike with Adam.

This trip is pretty fascinating. The lake view and snow Mountain View is breathtaking and the guide is so nice. Lots of detail information of city and cosine is told. Give a big kudos to the guide

Lovely day. Big Almaty Lake is gorgeous. Turquoise water, blue sky, snow-capped peaks made for amazing views and photos. Yerkin was a wonderful guide and so helpful providing information and helping my wife who has mobility problems. He picked us up at our hotel and dropped everyone off anywhere in town he/she chose. Small group of enthusiastic travelers added to the experience. If you have health problems I would recommend the car option.

He not only explained the local customs and practices with rich knowledge along the way, but also brought a drone to shoot videos for us. I highly recommend people who like natural scenery to experience the beauty of Almaty Lake.

Trip was cancelled due to the weather condition. But guide was very responsible. He contacted us on time and explained the situation. He tried to arrange it later in the day and gave us update in time. I’d like to try again next time when I come back to Almaty.

A great tour in itself. Our guide told a lot of things about Kazakhstan, but important organizational things, the return time and important rules at the lake were not mentioned, so it was a bit chaotic in the end. All in all, the tour was worth it.

Had an amazing day! Pick-up was very smooth and on time. The driving was safe and the guide was very nice. Almaty Lake is absolutely beautiful! A must visit when in the area. The guide also brought some tea and sweets and a drone to capture footage of the lake. All in all a very good trip!

This is an absolutely unforgettable hike, the views are out of this world, they don't look real, looks AI generated because it seems too beautiful to be true. Yerkin is a great guide, he thought of everything and took care of everyone. Take layers, the weather in the mountains is very changeable, we were lucky as it was mostly sunshine but we got a bit of rain mixed with snow as well. The on foot version - it's for people whose level of fitness is quite high. I think of myself as a fit person, and it was hard. But I was really happy that I did it, and it was definitely worth it, you will remember this trip for the rest of your life, I promise.
