Starting as a Roman fort and growing to become one of the major cities of the Industrial Revolution, Newcastle has a fantastic story to tell. You’ll hear all the best bits on this three-hour guided walk of Newcastle, while visiting many of the city’s most significant sites. We’ll take you inside the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas and then Newcastle’s Castle – both parts of the historic core of the city.

Built in 1080 by one of the sons of William the Conqueror, Newcastle’s castle has defended against Scottish attacks, including a failed assault by William Wallace (of Braveheart fame). St. Nicholas Cathedral church is first mentioned in 1092 and developed as the primary parish in Newcastle.

This tour is a great way to immerse yourself in the history and sights of Newcastle, to discover how the city has changed the world.

An excellent tour. Alex went the extra mile to accommodate us which we were very grateful for. Alex clearly knows all about the city and provided us with lots of interesting information. The time just flew by. He is a lovely guy who is very knowledgable and easy to listen to. We would highly recommend his tours.

I had the pleasure of a 4 Hour + Walking Tour of Newcastle Yesterday covering all the sites from Grainger Town to Newcastle Castle! Alex was amazing and really accomodating with my specific needs being Autistic. His In-depth knowledge is impeccable and I had an amazing time on Tour. I highly recommend Alex and his Tours .... I could go on but I don't need to ... Just experience his Tours for yourself 😃.

Alex has an incredible knowledge of Newcastle and its history. His commentary itself was outstanding, but I was blown away when I'd ask him a follow-up question and get another deep, thoughtful response. We covered a lot of ground in the half-day tour, and my group of 5 loved every minute. Alex has an excellent speaking voice, and he made sure to position himself so everyone could hear what he was saying. A terrific day, thanks to Alex. I highly recommend his guiding services if you are in the Newcastle area.

Alex met us promptly at our ship and we immediately got started by seeing a close by portion of Hadrian's Wall. This was followed by an amazing tour of the City and seeing the castle itself. He made the tour exciting for my kids (ages 10 and 13) and they really got a sense of the City and its incredible history! If you are going to Newcastle I highly recommend giving Alex a call!
