  The bus DOES NOT come every 15-20 as advertised. More like 45 minutes to an hour. And after waiting that long, there are more people that can fit on the bus-so you’re stuck waiting a lot. The driver does not tell you which stop you are at. We were unable to get earphones until we left the third time off. No one checks your tickets so I’m sure people were just getting on who didn’t bother paying for a ticket. We had a 3 day ticket and did not bother using day 2 or 3. Spent money on Lyft tickets or walked. For each stop we waited at, there were 3-4 trolley stop buses that picked up their passengers. I will use them next time.

• Great trip even in blistering cold weather

  The Big bus is a great way to see most of DC in a day, and price is right. On April 17, 2025 it was a sunny day but blistering cold winds spoiled the day. We stayed in the lower deck of the bus which was enclosed but still very cold. I settled in for the ride and started taking pictures through the window, so disappointed as all the pictures had the grid from the advertisement decals on the windows. At noon as it got warmer 61 degree Fahrenheit we went for a second ride upper deck of the bus we got lucky with pictures. We got off the bus at Washington monument but they issue tickets only at 9am, so we walked around and got back to the Big Bus, next great time at Lincoln Memorial had great time. By the time we returned to Union Station it was time to go home. We will definitely return and take the Big Bus. Great service and good staff, very helpful.

• Impossible Waits Between Busses

  We arrived at the second stop on the route to pick up a bus at about 10:30am and begin the tour. We waited for over 30 minutes for at which time a bus finally appeared but was absolutely full. The bus driver promised us the next bus would have room for us. Well, after another 30+ minutes another bus did arrive and it too was full. This driver was nice enough to let us on, standing. At the 3rd stop people got off and we were able to sit down. We got off at the Wharf where we walked around for about 90 minutes. When we went to catch the bus to continue the trip, we waited about 25 minutes. From the wharf we road to the Washington Monument where we disembarked. After walking around for about 90 minutes we went to wait for a bus. We wanted to do the complete route (pink and red). We had to wait at least another 45 minutes for a bus to arrive which it finally did. We decided not to get off the bus again because the waits were awful. The drivers were nice and the narration was fine. They needed more busses. We began at 10:30am and finally got back to the beginning about 5pm. We only got off twice for a total of about 3 hours of actual walking in areas , the rest was waiting for busses. I will not do this again. We had teenagers with us who were very impatient. It was a difficult day for everyone. Oh, a couple of the transmitters for the narration didn't work. We were lucky enough to find ones that did after discovering the ones that did not.
