German Fountain
The German Fountain (Turkish: Alman Çeşmesi; German: Deutscher Brunnen) is a gazebo styled fountain in the northern end of the former Hippodrome of Constantinople (Sultanahmet Square) in Istanbul and across from the Mausoleum of Sultan Ahmed I. It was constructed to commemorate the second anniversary of German Emperor Wilhelm II's visit to Istanbul in 1898. It was built in Germany, then transported piece by piece and assembled on its current site in 1900. The neo-Byzantine style fountain's octagonal dome has eight marble columns, and dome's interior is covered with golden mosaics.
Hippodrome
Although the Hippodrome is usually associated with Constantinople's days of glory as an imperial capital, it actually predates that era. The first Hippodrome was built when the city was called Byzantium, and was a provincial town of moderate importance. In AD 203 the Emperor Septimius Severus rebuilt the city and expanded its walls, endowing it with a hippodrome, an arena for chariot races and other entertainment.

5.00Both the tour and the guide are amazing. In the morning the guide arrived about 15 minutes earlier and the company messaged me via WhatsApp about the arrival of the guide. The guide’s name is CAN. He is a very friendly, professional guide. After our tour ended he has spent a few more minutes walking me to the entrance of my the next place I planned to visit and then said goodbye to me.

5.00We loved our tour with Ece! She was a wonderful guide who was both entertaining and informative. The sites we saw were beautiful on their own, but hearing more information about them really elevated the experience. Highly recommend!

5.00Ece was fantastic and very knowledgeable. She also kept a really good pace for our group so that we can understand and we didn’t miss anything. would definitely recommend her for future tours and if we return book her for any other tours, we decide to take.

5.00Great experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable. There was a long line to get into Basilica Cistern but with a tour guide we were able to go right in through a separate line. Went at 13:30.
